Is it just me or does the Trib enjoy making NIU look bad? Doesn't the Chicago Tribune have more importmant information to report? Shouldn't this be something the Northern Star reports?

Sounds like the kid might have a case. I don't blame the Tribune for mentioning the situation. At this point, the Tribune can't pretend to be anything other than a local news organization. If you had to depend on them for world news or even national news, you're out of luck. That's much less important than who got killed over the weekend or where the fire was.

I'm not saying there is a media conspiracy against NIU and agree the kid has a case. I just think there is more important news a large major newspaper should be focused on. Let the Daily Chronicle, Daily Herald, or Northern Star tackle local NIU/DeKalb issues.

You can't break wind in Dekalb without the Tribune covering it, yet some still claim we're not part of the Chicago Media Market, funny.

It's not like the Tribune initiated a story about this. The parties involved contacted the Tribune problem solver for help. No witch hunt, no media basis, it's a moot point.
