If you are heading back to the 'ham, we will definitely schedule a Milo's meeting.

I bet the UAB doctors find the cause is a deficiency of Milo's sauce flowing through your veins.

That's like a Death Row Wing deficiency... it's a feature, not a bug.

My background's not in medicine, but I'm going out on a limb and thinking more Milo's is not the answer. 03-lol

RE: My health update - prayers requested
While following the advice of your MDs, I would also seek out holistic and homeopathic remedies. Autoimmune disorders are poorly understood in western medicine, and there is hardly any treatment other than corticosteroids and immunosuppressive medicines used conventionally. However, these drugs shut down the immune system so powerfully they increase ones risk of cancer or other life threatening infections, on the other hand, autoimmune disorders often respond well to nutritional, homeopathic and herbal treatments.

Do some research on Chinese herbal therapies.

Ganoderma lucidum, known as reishi, comes from a tree fungus used in China and Japan for treatment of autoimmune diseases. It is believed to affect the immune system, but it is not known if it strengthens it. It has anti-inflammatory properties and is an antioxidant.

Dr. Ray Sahelian, in his article "Autoimmune Disease Alternative Therapy with Diet, Vitamins, Herbs and Supplements, Natural Treatment," states omega 3, omega 6, vitamin E and green tea may slow the progress of polymyositis through their effects on the inflammatory process. He also reports vitamin D inhibits proinflammatory processes by suppressing the enhanced activity of immune cells taking part in the autoimmune reaction.

Polymyositis may be linked to infections such as viruses, parasites, lyme disease, and the enormous load of environmental toxins we are exposed to daily. People would be surprised how many modern maladies are the result of parasitic infection (protozoa). There are many homeopathic treatments available for parasites. A thorough parasite cleansing has done wonders for many, many people.

At the least, look into "Diatomaceous Earth" (food grade silica) and its antiparasitic and detox/cleansing properties. DE kills many parasites and bonds with and drags out heavy metals. It is not a chemical. It is a very important trace mineral and works in a purely physical way. It's commonly used as an antiparasitic treatment in animals. It's negative charge bonds with and drags many positively charged toxins out of the body. I take it for a week or two every couple of months, and I find it rejuvenating. Can't possibly hurt, it's super cheap, and may help.

I realize many will react with skepticism (maybe your doctors too), but when modern medicine can offer little more than big doses of steroids, I would venture that holistic remedies that attempt to address root causes rather than just symptoms makes as much or more sense.

I found this on the web:
9 Tips for Addressing Autoimmune Disease
•Read The Autoimmune Epidemic by Donna Jackson Nakazawa. This book will tell you why we have this problem, and how to fix it.
•Find a functional medicine doctor who can help you address autoimmunity.
•Get tested for mercury and other heavy metals.
•Get tested for celiac disease (an autoimmune reaction to wheat and other gluten-containing grains), which causes over 60 autoimmune diseases. And consider eliminating other inflammatory foods from your diet such as dairy, eggs, corn and animal fats for a few weeks to see if it makes a difference in your symptoms.
•Take immune-balancing nutrients and supplements, including vitamin D, essential fats (like EPA/DHA and GLA), and probiotics.
•Practice deep relaxation daily through yoga, meditation, biofeedback, or anything that reverses the stress response.
•Practice the precautionary principle, which says that we should avoid anything with the potential for harm. In the US, something has to be proven harmful before it is taken off the market. In Europe, something has to be proven safe before it is allowed on the market. This is also known as “better safe than sorry.”
•Learn how to boost your body’s own detoxification system. (this is where the diatomaceous earth comes in, IMO.)
•By addressing the root causes of autoimmune disease, you can start feeling better and getting well today.

Please don't limit your therapies to just the mainstream stuff. Be broad in your search for efficacy.

I strongly believe autoimmune disorders have to be treated holistically.

Here's sending good vibrations your way.

Namaste.

Maybe it is a sign that it is time to come back to the 'ham.

I suspect the reasoning behind this trial will become quite apparent.

I know that you will end up a lot stronger both spiritually & physically for it.

Having eaten with BTR at Milo's, I'm fairly certain he's 25 percent sauce.

Mine was a legitimate diagnoses.

Not a diagnosis in the least. Just urging a broad approach and one that seeks to treat causes, not just symptoms.

If you put 100% of responsiblity for your health in the hands of for profit healthcare and big pharma, that's your problem, and good luck.

....but some apparently take no responsiblity for their health at all.

I was able to enjoy some Milo's today. I stayed pretty busy today which is what I needed to do. I have an appointment tomorrow at noon. Let's go ahead and assume that all is going to get really good and that we can have a BlazerTalk luncheon next week!!!
