Sorry if this is 'old' news to some of you.

Where are Albion’s kids?

The Albion Public Schools Board of Education voted Tuesday to stop offering grades 9 through 12 and to send Albion high school students to Marshall High School. They did so to cover a projected $945,000 budget shortfall that many argued was caused by Albion students attending other districts through the state’s Schools of Choice program.
The numbers below show full-time equivalency students, which measures the time a student spends in class and not just a head count. A half-day kindergarten student, for example, would be 0.5 FTEs.
District Albion students enrolled
Homer Community Schools 171.3
Concord Community Schools 129
Springport Public Schools 128
Mar Lee School 103
Marshall Public Schools 86.57
Western School District 28
Olivet Community Schools 12.51
Hanover-Horton School District 5
Jackson Public Schools 3
Northwest Community Schools 2
Lakeview School District 1.51
Battle Creek Public Schools 1
Harper Creek Community Schools 1
TOTAL 671.89
This school year, Albion received $6,966 per FTE from the state. That means if all of these Schools of Choice students returned to Albion, the district would have $4,680,386 more revenue.

I hadn't see these data, thanks for sharing. I'm surprised and disappointed that so many Albion families have gone schools of choice. It seemed like a pretty solid academic school back in the day. We had one kid who came out of Albion and attended Dartmouth before becoming a Rhodes Scholar. Another went on to become Vice President of Stanford. In my class alone we had students go on to become MD's, lawyers, engineers, teachers, football coaches/athletic directors, principals, financial advisors, and college professors. I don't get it.
