RE: WVU fans/ big xii membership
From a fan perspective, has "being on an island" had any impact on your enjoyment of the year? Or have home games and TV broadcasts of away games been enough?

RE: WVU fans/ big xii membership
I found it to be no problem. The games are on better channels now...

RE: WVU fans/ big xii membership
While I can see the issues of increased travel (from a budget and athletes' time perspective) I just don't see the distance being a big issue as a fan. As I've said elsewhere, while it can be fun to visit opposing venues, I have to think that most fans' time spent at actual events is spent largely at their own venues. For example, I certainly know that most KU fans would much prefer to go to Allen Fieldhouse than games elsewhere, even at a very friendly "neutral court" at the Sprint Center in KC.

RE: WVU fans/ big xii membership
It's a win for the Mountaineers. We still get coverage all over the east, and now we get additional midwestern exposure to people who haven't followed WVU previously. Also, we no longer have to deal with media members who have always looked down their noses at WVU, because of stereotypical anecdotes those same media members started and perpetuated, in the face of all evidence to the contrary. It's win win for WVU IMO...
I don't see the travel as a problem, as long as the B12 addresses the issues Oliver Luck brought up at the B12 meetings, which looks to be the case...

RE: WVU fans/ big xii membership
I think it is tough for some fans. WVU had a segment of football fans that literally went with the team everywhere and could tell you everything about getting in and out of pen st, Pitt, Syracuse, Maryland, va tech, ECU etc and wherever else the team played regularly. I think the fan base has embraced the move and really likes the fans if the big xii schools. Remember WVU has been a red state fan base in a blue state league for a long time. The trick is going to be able to find drivable roud games against quality/regional opponents. WVU has always been close with Rutgers, East Carolina and Cincinnati. Wouldn't shock me to see a lot of those teams on the schedule since Pitt, penn st and Va Tech aren't into playing

I really wished the Big 12 had invited UL and WVU back when we had the chance to get both but we didin't so no since crying over spilled milk. WVU has been a great addition to this league IMO.
