Neuro-linguistics
Anybody certified in NLP?

We need to inject the Grizzlies mindset into the Tigers during the off season for both FB and BB. We need to get them to savor playing the yard dog role, 110%, all out, we ain't going to lose smash mouth killer defense is the best offense ball.

Make them watch endless hours of Allen, Conley, Gasol and ZBo doing as a team what nobody believed they separately are capable of doing. I want for our Tigers what the Grizzlies are doing. Heart, grit, grind, not just determination but refusing to lose.

Yea I know some of you hate the Grizz but they should be the model mindset for our guys.

Most of our players are Laker fans.

DJ was our grit and grind

Hopefully someone steps into that role and more players follow

RE: Neuro-linguistics
I would like to bottle the Grit and Grind attitude. The city embraces a tough, blue collar style . It's one of the reasons I think that DJ Stephens and Joey Dorsey were crowd favorites--and Wesley Witherspoon and Adonis Thomas were not embraced. Joe Jackson and Geron Johnson fit the junkyard dog style (Will Barton did too, but for whatever reason wasn't embraced like the two players mentioned above).

Want to get a sure-fire ovation from a Memphis crowd? Dive on the floor and make a hustle play.

I think we're working towards that Grit and Grind style-- not the slow it down type, but through embracing the hustle, junkyard dog attitude. IMO, this is strongly tied to upperclassman leadership (something we haven't had for a while due to Calipari gutting the program). Having JJ and GJ as seniors and bringing in Pellom will help perpetuate this mindset.

DJ very much played that role every night. Geron also on most nights. We saw JJ do it a lot after the Bahamas. Defense takes a different mindset and different energy level and different level of mental focus. It's harder for young players to understand what it takes to truly play 40 max minutes of D.

Our kids were plenty tough.

All we saw here was how tough they were compared to the Will Barton team (something I thought was crap).

Then, they lost to MSU.

Now, they need toughness lessons.

Stop over-reacting to everything. Unless you are willing to state that the Grizzlies, who were simply awful not long ago- got toughness from the University, which was (and actually is) really good.

You are still fighting a ghost fight goofus. Not what I said. Not what I meant. You seem to be the only goofus trying to go down this road. But you just keep acting like a goofus making up goofus stuff for your own little goofus world.

And for the record, yes, any team in the country would love to have three all defense players and a defensive player of the year you goofus. Call that toughness lessons if you want to you goofus. If you don't Get the point of learning from and adopting great accomplishments then you are a goofus you goofus.

And how in the world did we get to Wll Barton and moo state. How does any of that relate to the Grizz and what the Tigers do next year?

Crap. I said I wasn't going to let the goofus bait me. Now I have over reacted so at least there is one thing accurate in your posts in this thread you goofus.

RE: Neuro-linguistics
Sorry....

It is a tired theme.

But a trap you have fallen into.

Thrilled that our NBA team is advancing...but taking that thrill to bait the Tigers. Classic what have you done for me lately and what have I just seen happen.

It is fair to label our university college kids as...not junkyard dogs, needing to watch and learn from the professional team that we just saw win in the playoffs, infer they do not give 110%, and that they play smaller than the sum of their parts.

But if you do, do not expect all to jump on that tired bandwagon. A better approach would be to be excited about the Grizzlies playing in the West Finals...a really great thing. But of course, we have to take a singular great post-season run and use that to take shots at college kids as being not-tough or not having heart.

I call crap.

Easy call.
