CFN stAte preview
Its always nice when a preview completely fails to mention two of your best players (Adam Kennedy and Michael Gordon) and still says that anything less than 9 wins will be a disappointment.

Calling UAPB "Arkansas State Pine Bluff" is a funny bit.

Sorry in advance for the "Off Topic" but I didn't want to start a whole new thread.

I saw in Yahoo that the Sun Belt is looking to add a new bowl game in Little Rock. What are the chances of that actually happening?

Quote:The Sun Belt currently has deals with the New Orleans Bowl and GoDaddy.

A third is likely to come in the form of a new game being worked on in Little Rock, Ark., with Conference USA providing a possible opponent.

stAte has built a real football machine. Ryan Aplin gone is going to hurt.
Four QB replacements sound good, but especially that junior college one.
Four coaches in four years, will it be five in five years? Success in football
gets rewarded. Hope stAte is better in 2013 than they are in 2014.

Adam Kennedy, who transferred in from Utah State after starting several games there a couple years ago is the frontrunner for the starting job. One of those graduate school transfers. He got hurt and lost his job to an up and comer.

The good thing is that a lot of our success was built on defense as well so I expect not too much of a drop off. Most of our defense will be back in 2014 as well.

It is very possible. There are corporate entitities and others in Arkansas who would love to add a bowl game in War Memorial Stadium.

He lost his job to a more mobile QB at Utah State, he is no Aplin running the football.

We're going to a 2 QB system next year...never intended to have a mobile QB.

Switching up and going Hurry up Pro style offense. Our running backs are gonna have career years.

The thing about Aplin was that he really wasn't a QB blessed with tremendous speed or running back moves. He knew WHEN to run and was just fast enough to keep a defense honest.

If Kennedy wins the job, he has enough mobility to keep plays alive and Knighten is very elusive in the package they have for him at QB. Stephen Hogan is very athletic as well given that he was moved from WR.

As far as Kennedy's mobility, he ran for 253 yards in his 6 starts at USU including 95 yards in one game and he ran for 561 yards in a season at Juco. He isn't a statue.

Not a statue, but far from a QB like Aplin that can run the zone read effectively. He is more of a West Coast offense type QB or Pro Set. In either case, it will be much easier for the defense to come off the ball not having to be concerned about him as much unless ASU uses some play action.

The offense will definitely be different but Harsin says he wants to keep the pace or go faster and he wants to incorporate what we've been doing the last two years on offense with his style. He has some new weapons to mix in that will keep defenses on their heels a little in Michael Gordon, Kendrick Daniels and Derek Keaton.

If stAte would just lose a couple of more games a year you wouldn't have to worry about finding
a new coach each year. Just a thought. Just trying to help.

I like the revolving door of coaches. I hope we get a new one every year.
