Former #Rice pitcher Phillip Humber designated for assignment by Astros

Too bad for Phillip. He had pitched really well in Spring Training but after that things just went downhill.

He can probably get a AAA gig somewhere and try to get things going again. Hate to say it but I've seen him twice this year and he looked horrible both times. No movement and no location, and that's a pretty bad combination.

He came over to Reckling last week to talk to Wayne Graham. It would be awesome if he could join the Rice coaching staff.

04-deal Quick: Sign here.

After last night's 5th inning, 5 ER, it's no wonder...

Keith Law weighing in:

keithlaw ‏@keithlaw 2h
Overused at Rice and never fully recovered. RT @Jus10Sarabia: @keithlaw What went wrong with Philip Humber?

keithlaw ‏@keithlaw 2h
Niemann, Townsend, Berry, St. Clair, Simms, Kubitza... RT @cmupensfan: Rice did the same thing to Kenny Baugh

You can always count on Keith Law to bang the "college pitchers are overused" drum. It's not just Rice either. If you follow him on Twitter, you'll notice that during the regionals, he spends much of his time moaning about how pitchers are being abused.

Being overused in 2003/04 caused him to lose command of his stuff in 2013. Got it.

Had enough in the Tank to throw a Perfect Game last year. Law is like a broken record.
