I'm afraid this will be the last "continental shift" in realignment for quite some time.
There's no obvious reason why your "next 2-3 years" couldn't equally be "next 5-10 years". There is ample time before the GOR expires for the Big12 to expand, and so it makes all the sense in the world to give AAC schools a chance to see if any of them can make a mark in the new system, which no longer requires a Mid-Major champion to run the table to get into a Big Bowl.

Fair enough. I used 2-3 years rather arbitrarily, although I do think the lack of CCG in the Big 12 will force the issue sooner than later once the playoffs begin.

Agreed. Wait a few years and see who separates themselves from the pack like TCU and Utah did -- in both football success and financial/facilities support.

Also possible that once things play themselves out, the Big 12 may find it easier to stick with ten members rather than go to a CCG. It's crazy to assume anything when the first "playoff" season hasn't even taken place yet.

How annoying can it be? They're only in the MWC for football, so UNLV makes only one trip to Hawaii every two years, and only in one sport.

And that's the way things are going to be until at least decade's end. Hawaii is not pulling their other sports out of the Big West for a while.

And Hawaii's olympic sports complement the Big West very well. It could be a very long relationship with the exception of football.

Everyone benefits in this arrangement

I think most Hawaii fans agree. The move to the Big West is turning out well for UH. It's a good fit geographically, athletically and culturally. And for teams of the other Big West schools, a visit to Honolulu every year or every other year (depending on the sport) -- paid for by UH -- isn't viewed as particularly burdensome.

Little known fact, UNLVFan90 is the team pilot for the school
