Previewing Florida's 2013 schedule: The Toledo Game
Found this on one of my Google feeds this morning. While they predict a rather easy win, they do heed the "we better be ready to play" warning and give us some props and respect on offense:
"This Toledo offense has the potential to be incredible. Led by dual-threat quarterback Terrence Owens, the Rockets' offense returns nine starters from a unit that produced 31.5 points per game a year ago. Owens will also have four of his starting five offensive linemen return from 2012. The Rockets also return all but one of their skill position players. Their top two receivers, Alonso Russell and Bernard Reedy, tallied more than 2,000 receiving yards a year ago, and their top running back, David Fluellen, came several dozen inches short of 1,500 rushing yards, finishing with 1,498. Make no mistake: This offense will carve the Gators up if they're not ready to play."
On defense, not so much:
"It's a good thing their offense can score, because the Rockets' defense is a mess. Toledo loses eight starters from a unit that surrendered 28.4 points per game a year ago, including its best player, linebacker Dan Molls. In particular, the defensive line is really going to have trouble getting any penetration against Florida's offensive line."

Let's hope these years of top recruiting classes start to pay dividends in the form of improving defense.

They need to bring as much pressure as they can on every down. They can't sit back in that prevent defense, like they did last year, and hope the other team doesn't score.

It's already pretty weak so I have to think it will improve

We have played OSU, Boise, Cinci, etc. I don't think this team is scared/intimidated by anyone.

I'm hoping the same thing; it's definitely a prominent thought with this opener. But this is a veteran team and they have played tough teams very close recently, so I think they can maintain their composure.

RE: Previewing Florida's 2013 schedule: The Toledo Game
Thanks for posting the article.
It will be interesting to see how well Toledo runs the ball. This will be key. The wideouts that are pretty talented will be facing great defensive backs. I would love to see Reedy and Russell have big games, but Olack and Fluellen's catching balls out of the backfield could be very important. I hope T.O. Does not venture out of the pocket much.
I want to be positive about the defense, because they played well last year in big games. I don't know what happened the other games. The D-line should be solid, Molls and Bell will be missed but quality steps in, the D-backs are experienced. I don't know that the incoming talent beyond Zimmerman and maybe a DE will contribute muh this first game. I am "cautiously" optimistic with the defense, but it gets better as the season wears on.
It is exciting to think about unknown talent that will be making a mark this year: Zimmerman, Cory Jones, Hester, Delondo Johnson, Larkins, Gibbs, etc...
Go Rockets!!
