I must have missed something... what did he do with the team at Higher Ground? I remember hearing about him having the team practice celebrating or something like that...

He chose the wrong QB at Higher Ground.

Gotcha... and I agree.
That's the one thing I will never forgive Butch for. He stubbornly stuck with "his guy" for far too long, and I strongly believe that decision was the main thing that cost UC an outright Big East championship last season.

Let us pray that the incoming coaching crew does not make the same mistake.

It sucks because it probably cost us a BCS bowl....
and yes...I was a Lyle defender during that time as I thought SURELY the HC knows more than a bunch of shmoes in a chat forum...guess I was wrong.

RE: Q&A with Cincinnati quarterback Gunner Kiel
Often on the way from the courthouse I pick up lunch and sit in the stands to enjoy an afternoon in the sun while taking in practice.
The whole "Munchie looks good in practice" meme was utter horse manure. He was just as bad there from what I regularly saw. Did not take a rocket scientist to see the depth chart was SNAFUed.
Wonder if Coach Doofus ever noticed the guy in the suit eating Curito yelling out "What the hell can you be watching?"

Yes sir,
I was right there too. It still boggles the mind that a head coach would play the worse player. So high school.

It's all good...many were thinking with their hearts and doing the whole "in coach I trust (hope) thing."
Only mea culpa I want is from a guy in Knoxville. I had the guy's back his first year but he proved to be a effing idiot.
In all fairness, for me it wasn't only about supporting the coach. I did not mind Munchie at QB when he ran the ball. He was dangerous enough with his feet to justify it, IMO. At least, with me not having a clue about Kay at the time - I knew all the reports from people, but had never really seen Kay for myself.
But, as the season went on, Munchie ran progressively less and less (his number of runs < 10, and passes > 25). People were speculating his wheels were tweaked. At that point, if his obvious strength is completely taken away, the failure to look at alternatives was irresponsible at best.
But, I guess it was more about never seeing Kay, than thinking Munchie was "all that".
