Was on campus yesterday. Looking at his position at MU and his twitter account I think it would be great if we could bring him back in one of the top #2 or #3 positions. Though if Spears does only have a 1yr agreement it will be hard to convince anyone to move back with the risk that Dr. Baker wants to go with someone else next year.

I would like to see this guy come in. I really hope Spears doesn't have this deal constructed, I want new blood in here with fresh ideas. NIU shouldn't promote from within with all the recent issues, get new bodies out here.

I heard Spears wanted a 1 yr but did not get it. I would not give in to that request as it ties our hands for a year.

Have to like the NIU ties.

It does make hiring a staff from outside much more difficult.

I can't blame Spears for asking for the time though.

Just thought I'd chime in and say that Joe True is a great guy and does wonderful things for the Marquette athletic department. I am a Marquette alum and a huge men's basketball supporter. I've met Joe at a few MU games last season and we talked about NIU. I explained my allegiance to NIU football and he seemed very proud of his alma mater. Although I would love to see him back at NIU, I know he makes good $$ at Marquette and don't know if NIU would be able to match what he's making now.
