I like that!

I could go along with that, but the realignment shockwave is just getting to the FCS leagues. There are some major (mid-major, at least) things that still need to shake out, and those shouldn't be marginalized.

On a side note, I am a little puzzled that this thread appears on the same day that Davidson announces that it is moving from the SoCon to the A-10. In other words, it ain't over.

I say call it "Conference Realignment and Other News".

In general I like the idea of a central college sports forum w/ a CR subforum but judging by the voices in this thread, that would do more harm than good.

Over? Did you say over? Nothing is over 'til we decide it is!

The associations may be suspect, but the kind of stuff that gets me is the distance between UConn's closest conferencemates. There aren't Providence's, St. Johns', Rutgers', and Seton Hall's to save that travel budget this time. To make it work, they are going to need a school they don't want to directly compete with (UMass) to absorb that shock.

Nope, this is far from over...which is why this board is so necessary.

That suggests this board should be renamed.

On the other hand, this CR board is a great community, and renaming it may destroy that, cause posters to scatter to the four winds.

I'm sorry but the P5 are not the most popular on this board. The B1G, SEC, Pac abd Big XII are inactive. Also there is much more realignment taking place amongst the conferences with active boards.

GTS I would say that as long as there more than a few fans on here butthurt over where they were left behind in this realignment cycle, the board should remain as is.

I agree that "realignment" should remain as part of the name. "College Sports Realignment and News" or something of the sort would be good.

Based on recent postings, this should be an outlet for ACC fans to pat themselves on the back where others may see them.

Yea, the patting on the back got old fast. But can you blame some of these guys. For months and up to a year, these guys heard how the ACC was a dead man walking and was bout to get ripped to shreds. I'm not the biggest fan of the "I told you so" crowd. But it is what it is.

Keep it but if topics change to talk about rivals and games of interest, those should remain on this board. Agree realignment is very far from over. Just the Big Fish aren't jumpin' ship, but They could add.

Remember HOW the board started.

- Big East board inundated with CUSA fans wanting in
- Annoyance
- Subforum that grows
- Realignment smashes everyone and it's moved to the Lounge for all leagues

It's purpose is to consolidate the realignment talk as best it can.

It's serving it's purpose well. No need to change it. The non-realignment stuff is pretty much allowed "unofficially" already and it keeps most of all the realignment fighting contained here. It kind of serves as a catch all board that keeps the crap that derails other boards off of them.

RE: The future of the CR board
All that downtime sodomy I went through this afternoon (all because, ultimately, of either Xcache or MyBB's Xcache handler) started with me trying to rename this board in the admin area, getting a "not enough memory" error ... upping the memory and restarting PHP.

YOU WOULD HAVE THOUGHT I WOULDN'T GET SODOMIZED FOR THAT.
