ACC network will struggle to channel viewers (Link)
At least according to Bob Molinaro in Hampton Roads. Honestly the guy sounds like a d ick so I don't know how much his opinion matters. If anything this article gives #ACC fans the opportunity to go #BBN on his a$$. (For those that don't have the privilege of sharing air with the mouth breathers that call themselves Kentucky fans, going #BBN on him would mean flooding this guy's mail box with death threats, wishes of birth defects for his children and worse, you get the picture.) Then again we can choose to ignore it. I leave that choice to you. I choose to ignore him.

"It doesn't surprise me that the ACC intends to launch its own league-branded network. A conference has gotta keep up with the Joneses.
What surprises me is that there is a big enough audience for this sort of thing."

I saw something where the ACCDN was on 30 million devices. Let me count the number of existing networks that would like to have 30 million viewers. 1...2...ALL OF THEM!

Adoption will be slow but once it gets going the ACCN should be extremely successful.

bob is the sports editor for the virginian pilot the main newspaper in Hampton Roads/ Norfolk Va beach area as well as the Roanoke Times however, bob is is a stick n mud, he's very sarcastic and laments for the good ole days of the 8 member acc.; he does not like the big time sports movement in college sports due to the percieved loss to academics. he is a UNC graduate = believe class of 77 and cherishes of being the crotchety old man. He's not really connected now, but leading a big paper like he Pilot has a platform to spout off.
At the same time the Pilot has alot of good young reporters, they contribute through their various blog sites.

We have to hacks like that in Pittsburgh as well... I pray for them to go away. They dismiss both Pitt and the ACC as irrelevant and champion the Big Ten as BIG TIME football and pine for the days of Joe Paterno their lord and savior…

If David Teel of the Daily Press had said this, I'd sit up and listen. But of course, he would never write a column on a subject he admitted to knowing nothing about.

RE: ACC network will struggle to channel viewers (Link)
"At any rate, every basketball game worth watching - and many more not worth the time - already is on ESPN, on another national network or on local channels via syndication, with poor ratings to show for most of them. How deep into its inventory will the ACC have to dig to find programming for its own network?"
All I needed to know about his lack of understanding of how a conference channel actually works is this above.
If the network is run right, those Tier 2 games that ESPN doesn't show won't be on any other "national network" nor will they air via syndication on stations (Raycom, NESN, SNY, MASN, etc.), but will only be shown on the ACCN.
Journalists still don't realize that what made the BTN a success was much more basketball related than football.
Cheers,
Neil

^^ that's what people seem to miss, Raycom is producing a syndicated package of games because that's currently what the ACC wants to do. If you take that inventory along with some games that end up on ESPN3 & you have plenty of content plus let's remember any ACC channel is also meant to promote the mission, values & accomplishments of each school.

He's also forgetting that marquee ACC basketball games are about to get much deeper with the addition of Cuse, Pitt, ND and Louisville. Also, if we partner with ESPN (which I don't see how we couldn't), they may be willing to put the occasional tier 1 or tier 2 game on the ACCN to encourage those states cable companies to sign up for the network.
