ACC
UNC, Duke, Louisville, Syracuse
Big 10
Michigan, Ohio St, Indiana, Michigan St
Which conference has the best second tier that might elbow their way into the mix with the top four?
ACC- ND, NCSU, Pitt, Miami, FSU, UVA ?
I'd say the ACC has the best top-4, and the Big 10 has the best next 6:
Wisconsin, Illinois, Purdue, and Maryland are on the same level as Pitt and NCSU. ND, Miami, and FSU are decent, but they're no better than Iowa. Minnesota and UVA haven't done anything since the 90's.
Does it matter that the ACC - Big10 challenge has gone to the ACC almost every year since it started?

And the ACC has brought in 2 more "Ringers/Syracuse & Louisville"...

Cheers,

I think the best combo of the two will end up being the ACC in a few years. It's already headed that way.
What? That's not going to happen.
Why not? How far ahead is football is the BIG now? They've only won one BCS title just like the ACC. What happens if FSU and Miami start producing like they should.... Recruiting is already starting to play out in the ACC's favor just like NFL draft picks. It's only a matter of time.
The ACC has 3 BCS bowl wins. One was against a now fellow member (VT), one was against a MAC team (Northern Illinois) and Cincinnati. The ACC has a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG way to go to be considered anywhere close to the B1G in FB.
If ifs and buts were candy and nuts we'd all have a merry christmas. There is no indication that Miami will EVER return to it's old form.

And yet the ACC has the same championships as the BIG in the BCS era. FSU and Miami took a nosedive at the same time which is why the ACC had such a poor record. But you are right, the ACC hasn't performed up to where the BIG is but they are slipping and the ACC is rising. The next 3 years should be interesting.

The ACC has shown no signs of rising. They lose big OOC games and bowl games. Once they start winning those, then they can say they are rising. They have not, so you cannot say they have. It's that simple. By the actual numbers the ACC was behind the Big East since the first raid. The Big East in that time period won more BCS bowls and big time OOC games.

Guess I'll post this here too.
Purdue and Wisco have been quite successful over the past 5 yrs.
2007-2012 B1G conference wins;
PUR = 64
WIS = 64
MSU = 63
OSU = 63
MICH = 43
ILL = 41
MN = 38
PSU = 33
IU = 33
NW = 31
IA = 27
NEB = 4
BTW - B1G has the 2nd most overall BCS Bowl wins after the SEC. ACC is behind everyone...EVERYONE.
And, the B1G didn't have to rip half of their Conference from a rival Conf just to keep their head above water.
In my short time here, ACC fans seem a little delusional. Looks like this might turn into a fun place to lay waste.

Ummmmmm....
Belk Bowl - Duke L Cincy
RA Bowl - VT W Rutgers
Pinstripe Bowl - Syracuse W WVU
Music City Bowl - NCSU L Vandy
Sun Bowl - GT W USC
Chick-fil-A Bowl - Clemson W LSU
Orange Bowl - FSU W NIU
Sugar Bowl - Louisville W Florida
BBVS Bowl - Pitt L Ole Miss
That's 6-3 in Bowls this year with some pretty big wins. 4-2 if you exclude the n00bs.
