I hope we still keep the PAC, B1G, and maybe the ACC in the long-term plans. Esp since it seems the Sun Bowl has had to get behind other bowls, as time has gone on.

Some AAC fans think their new conf is in play (which we know there is no way that will happen due to lack of interest in those teams playing here, unless they were playing UTEP. Don't think they'd travel well to El Paso either).

has the sun bowl ever had a tie-in with the sec? If not, bring them aboard. aac will never happen, the only school with a fan base in that conference is ecu and we all know how much they hate to travel. I wouldn't mind changing it up a bit and getting the Big 12 or big 10 back again

The main thing is we have to find a way to increase our payout so that we get a higher pick. Picking 4th isn't doing us any favors.

Why not the Mountain West Conference?

I would love to see a second place team vs. a PAC 12 number 4.

I"m guessing that the Mountain West would travel better than the ACC.

MWC could mean Wyoming, San Diego St, San Jose St, and a couple of others, which most of us would not pay to watch. Just like the AAC.

Increasing the payout would be the best move. However, if we can't do that, we might as well go with a team that would travel well or have some local familiarity.

It could mean the schools you mentioned.

However, it could also mean schools like Boise St. Nevada, New Mexico and Air Force.

All are schools that haven't played here in a while, have big local appeal and would travel well.

nevada? have you seen their attendance when they're ranked? In 2010 they went 13-1 and didn't even average 20,000 in attendance per game... If they don't even travel well to their own stadium, what makes you think they'd travel well out here?

I like East vs. West meetings in El Paso.

I'd enjoy Wisconsin vs Oregon, and other potential B1G vs. PAC12 matchups.

As long as UTAH isn't in there.

PAC vs B1G/SEC would be my top choice, but a payout increase is mandatory to get top picks.

I would take PAC 12 vs. any school west of the Mississippi. I have no interest however in schools east of the Miss.

MWC fans would like to see the Sun Bowl in play for their conf. They've been good sports towards UTEP, so I don't have the heart to let them know, it is an extreme long shot. ALthough, I think they'd be ahead of the AAC.

Both mwcboard and aac here make mention that our second conference tie in is in jeopardy? Anyone heard anything about this? According to them, none of the east coast conferences want to send a team here. Are they being haters or is there any fuel to this? I can't seem to find any articles. I want to see the Sun Bowl move up to the #3 pick in two P5 conferences.
