Not for nothing but I saw some familiar mid majors on that chart like Houston in our same area. I guess they suck too. Riiiight. Out of curiosity, where did they put GSo on this chart?
You are confused by my argument. On the percent yield chart, Southern is #7 nationally behind BYU, Harvard, Stanford and a couple of others. State was #77 This particular data is simply an indicator of the number of students admitted compared to the number that actually end up enrolling in the school. It's not an indicator of the 'quality' of the school necessarily (though it's nice to be in that company.) It IS a good indicator of where students WANT to attend. Which speaks to my original sentiment.
See, this is where the logic fails and why that billboard on I-16 makes you look like idiots. In the case of Harvard, Stanford and BYU, it is where the students WANT to go. In your case, it is where the students HAVE to go. Huge difference between those two and the fact that you people don't see it is embarrassing.
Funny that video seems more appropriate for you. What he's saying is, if you get accepted to Harvard, you don't turn it down. If you get accepted to Southern, you basically have three options; you go to Southern, you go to a community college, or you don't bother going to school. The reason you're on that list is because you're almost the lowest level on the totem pole. If you don't get accepted to one of the reasearch universities, you can go to Southern, Valdosta, Columbus State, etc, but you guys are in denial about where your school stands

I know exactly where we stand, which is squarely on top of State. We have a higher average SAT score (admitted freshmen) than you guys and admit a smaller percentage of applicants. By comparison, who does that put lower on the totem pole? And if #7 is low for us, #77 for GaState is tantamount to being in hell.
As someone who works in academic affairs and deals with a lot of freshmen, they could give a FLIP about the 'research' designation of a university. They want the "college experience" and a good football team. We have both, you have NEITHER.

Which program's are you ranked top 10 by US News in? Wait, not a single one? Seriously, when I listen to you guys I have to wonder what the hell you're talking about because you certainly aren't talking about anything with its basis in reality.
Seriously. Where do you get this idea that you are anywhere near us from? SAT scores? Surely that has more to do with the kids you're accepting, not the quality of your school. And your school, your program's, they don't match up to ours. At all. So keep telling yourself how you're superior to us, but in the end no matter how you pull it, it's not backed up by any data whatsoever.
As for winning, well hey, i didn't go to southern so i guess i'm a leg up in that arena.
Wrong AGAIN (wow)
There's also a PhD in Public health along with a TON of EdD programs, which really, the only difference between the two is about 12 hours of dissertation work.
So moving up to the Sun Belt and kicking State's ass on a regular basis will undoubted attract more students, more money, and result in more PhDs being offered.
There you go Charlie Sheen, how's that for 'winning?'

Thank you for admitting the difference between our two schools. Your students want to have an experience, ours want an education. That's why your transfer-out rate is so high, once the kids get it out of their systems, it's time to go to a real school.

By "college experience" I meant attending a campus that has more than concrete, trash, and pan-handlers on a daily basis.
