When I went to Dublin last June, there were a surprising number of Dubliners who wanted to talk to me about American football. They were really excited about the ND game. But I got the impression that they were more excited about "an American college football game" being played there than "a Notre Dame football game." I never asked them directly, so I might have been wrong.
So it's entirely possible that Dubliners will be just as happy to see PSU-UCF as ND-Navy.
Why the hate for PSU and UCF? If they go to Dublin and the game goes flat, then you guys can mock us. Till then, why not support it? It's cool if ND does it, but lame if anyone else does? Arrogant much?

I don't know if you're referring to my post or just the posts in general, but my "hate" was directed at PSU, not UCF.

They could label it the Pedo Bowl. Ireland ought to love hosting that.
Um, no they would not....
That was sarcasm. No sane individuals outside the horde of cultists would want that.

Not directed at you specifically. Just in general it seems ok to dump on an AAC school for looking for more exposure, when ND can do it, and then be arrogant enough to think Ireland belongs to them alone.
It's just an elitist double standard, and CFB seem to be buying into it. Baffling.
ND has done it twice (1996 and last year) and is planning to do it again.
It was a big success last year.
I thought it was a huge success. Notre Dame drew a massive crowd to that Irish stadium, and IMO the infectious support from that crowd helped inspire the team towards its highly successful season.

I just said "copycats". I never said "lame".
You're right, I was referring to a couple of other posters who used that term. Still saying anything derogatory is equivalent to the same thing. It's elite school's fans looking down their noses at a school like UCF for making efforts to improve and be relevant.
These are the same fans who repeatedly claim the non-AQ programs aren't trying hard enough. Damned if you do... Blah blah.

ND playing in Ireland was awesome. A natural game considering the historic nature.

Or they could play in Heinz Field and it would be one of the few times that fans would show up for a college game.
Really don't understand the copycats comment, so you're saying that these teams are copying the BC- Army game from 1988? FYI - this would be the 5th Emerald Isle Classic and Notre Dame didn't start it, nor did Navy.

The NFL games in London sell out very quickly. I'm not sure that many people in Ireland associate Notre Dame with being Irish at all, they probably haven't even heard of it. People just want to see a game.

Sssssh. Don't let ND hear that. They still believe they are the center of the universe. They've already tried and convicted people in the Middle Ages that disagreed with them. They are the center of the universe, just ask them. The world is flat also.
