Tricia Turley Brandenburg was named as the Deputy Athletics Director for Internal Operations at Towson University in December. 2012.
In that role, she overseea the department’s academics, compliance and student success divisions.
A native of Ilion, N.Y., Brandenburg serves as a member of the Athletics Leadership Team and be responsible for directing the internal administration of the Department of Athletics. The position’s primary mission will be to ensure that Towson’s student-athletes, coaching staff and administrators are provided with first-class support and the resources necessary to be academically and athletically successful while in total compliance with all NCAA and Colonial Athletic Association rules and regulations.

Brandenburg joined the Towson program after spending the last four-plus years in a compliance role at Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She served as an Associate (2008-11) and then Senior Associate (2011-2012) Director of Athletics.
At Ohio University, Brandenburg was responsible for overseeing and maintaining the compliance of the department’s 16 intercollegiate athletics programs and approximately 425 student-athletes, including NCAA rules education.
One of her primary roles at Ohio was to implement, control and monitor procedures pertaining to athletic recruiting, eligibility, financial aid, and to interpret rules. In addition to her responsibilities in compliance and student services, Brandenburg oversaw the sports of women's swimming and diving, men's and women's cross country and women's indoor and outdoor track.
She also served as an adjunct faculty member at Ohio in the Department of Sports Administration and the Department of Recreation & Sport Pedagogy.
Prior to joining the staff at Ohio University, Brandenburg was the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance Services at the University of Massachusetts from 2005 to 2008. She also served as the Senior Woman Administrator/Associate AD for Compliance and Enrollment Services at Northeastern University from 2001-to-2005.
During her tenure at Northeastern, she represented the institution on the Executive Board of the Women's Basketball Foundation as part of the local organizing committee for the 2006 Women's Final Four in Boston.
Before joining the staff at Northeastern in 2001, Brandenburg was an Enforcement Services intern for the NCAA.
Brandenburg currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) and is the former chair of the Professional Standards and Ethics Subcommittee. She also works on the Advisory Board for the College Athletics and the Law newsletter and has served as a presenter at both the NAAC Convention and the NCAA Regional Rules Seminar.
Brandenburg graduated from the NCAA Fellows Leadership Program (2007-08) and the NACWAA Executive Institute (2009). She is also a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA) and the National Association of Athletic Compliance Coordinators.
In 2005 at Northeastern, she was honored with the All-American Football Foundation Senior Associate Athletic Director Award. Recently, she was appointed to the Board and Executive Committee of the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
A 1999 graduate of Cornell University, she received a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Industrial & Labor Relations. Brandenburg also earned four varsity letters in wrestling as the team manager.
She also earned her Master of Science degree in Leadership and a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Northeastern University in 2002.
She now resides in Towson, Md., with her husband James.
