The non-bigs need to stick together or die. If they are going to split it should be an across the board divorce in ALL sports and in governance and in scheduling.

I agree. I suspect you would see congressmen from the have not schools states stand up and object.

(Not Alabama's of course, but some of the others)

I think, after working on story last week, that smaller schools would welcome FBS forming own subdivision with own rules as long as...
...A) They don't touch the NCAA basketball tourney and B) They can still get scheduled for pay days. The current schism is burden for all.

But we all know they won't be satisfied w/just football...

But what is a smaller school? Tulane? Wake Forest? Northwestern? Duke? Stanford? Are we stopping at "smaller schools" or are we headed to the semi-pro circuit with only the top 24 teams?

Its basically a threat - agree to stipends or we take all of the money and leave.

How do you force schools to agree to stipends they cannot afford to pay?

By thinking you are makng them an offer they cannot refuse...basically take it or face the possibility of being left out afterwards.
I say screw them,if they want to define amatuer, as pay to play...it will not be the end of the NCAA, it will be the end of pretense... and the death of the Student/Athlete...

Yeah, except that the whole point of relignment in the first place is to acquire and retain that big money. They won't give up much or easily.
