There is 0 chance Threloff, Rakocevic, and Gray all average double digits. Zero.

Why did I apply to U of I? Because it's in state.
Did I get more money to go to NIU? No.
I just liked NIU more. Plus, I knew someday the Huskies would play in the Orange Bowl.

Don't kid yourselves. Kids want Big 10. Big house. Horseshoe. 110,000 fans in stadium. National TV regularly. The lead on ESPN. BCS Bowls with regularity not once in a. Lifetime.

Kids mainly just want playing time, and the ones that are obsessed with exposure usually flop anyway.

No I'm saying an act score of 22 does not mean you will flunk out of u of I and enroll in NIU.
Not saying that most people don't prefer illness to NIU. In most respects i don't understand how your education is that much better. Your education is what you put into it. You get things like alumni networks that have value but the idea that you got a better education is crazy.
Calculus is calculus regardless of if you learn it at community college or Harvard.

BCS bowls? At U of I? What are you smoking? And Illinois only gets attention AFTER all the pro sports are done and after they have talked about TSISB. The only advantage to U of I now is that they play in front of more people.

They are in the Bigten. The money difference is huge. U of I wants to do stadium improvements, they get the money. They get more guys in the NFL. That makes a big difference to the athletes. TV is another big difference. Students pride in their school is much different. The Orange Bowl has helped a little with that. Being associated with, Michigan, Ohio St, Nebraska, Penn St, Wisconsin, Michigan St, Northwestern, Purdue as compared to, CMU, Kent St., Akron, Ball St. EMU, come on know. I love NIU as much as the next guy, but there is no comparison between NIU and U of I in athletics or academics. NIU and ISU AND SIU are better comparisons.

Well, they've played in 2 BCS bowl games in the past 10-12 years. They won't be in a similar situation anytime soon, but they've shown they can do it.

It's pretty rare though. As a recruit you can always dream but if a BCS bowl is a goal, Illinois wouldn't be the place to go.

That's what I said already. They get more people and they play more Big 10 schools. Illinois plays on the Big 10 channel mostly so people that have that can see it. Everyone else will be watching E$PN.
Why do they get more guys in the NFL? Because they get better recruits. My point is that recruits shouldn't think Illinois is a slam dunk anymore vs. NIU, not that they don't currently have higher priority for recruits. There's nothing intrinsic about Illinois that gets more people in the NFL.
Also, at least theoretically, the athletes don't get the money so what difference does that make? They don't sit in the stands, or the pressbox, or the luxury suites.

RE: New BB Transfer In
Student athletes go to schools that give them the best chance to get to the league. That's pretty much it. If John Calapari became the NIU coach tomorrow, we'd have a Top 5 recruiting class in the country next year.
Do you think Illinois has had more talent the last 3 years than NIU? I honestly don't think so. How many guys have they had drafted over the last 3 years? I think it might be double digits. How many guys has NIU had drafted? 1.
Melvin was a 6-2 corner who ran a sub 4.4 and was a 2 year starter, 3 year rotation guy (and good player) at NIU and he didn't get drafted. If he went to Illinois, he would have been drafted based off his measurables alone. He probably would have been invited to the NFL combine. It's just the truth. Melvin and Moore were I thought the most NFL ready players since Larry English, and neither got drafted. I would think Ward would get drafted next year, but at this point who really knows.

What's odd that is that Illini players have done very well in the NFL, considering the source.

I think part of the reason other schools didnt look at him is he would only have 1 year left. But by coming home he can apply for the hardship waiver and play 2 years at NIU
Coming home is a hardship?
Any prophet could tell you that.

Then the scouts don't know what they're doing.

Ward will definitely be drafted, if he has as good a year this fall as he did in 2012. You can bet that NFL scouts are already well aware of him after the outstanding season he had. Don't forget Ward was 1st Team All-MAC as a junior, while Melvin didn't make 1st, 2nd or 3rd Team All-MAC as a senior. Melvin has great measurables, but I don't think he had that good of a year in 2012. I predicted he'd be a lockdown CB in 2012, but it didn't turn out that way.
