Not that Naama wasn't great and Inma should be too. What I'm getting at is, are we bringing these players in because we can't get quality players in the U.S.? Now if we're bringing in elite players like the Gonzaga men's team, it's one thing. But if we can't go head-to-head with the teams we need to beat in the MAC (BG,Central,Ball St,Akron) with our facilities, history and fan base-then something's wrong.[/b]
What's the difference? If we're getting players who are helping us succeed, does it matter where they're from? I'm sure other MAC schools would love to have landed Shafir or Zanoguerra, so I guess they can't go head to head with us abroad. If our Spanish players are better than their Ohio and Michigan players, I'll be satisfied.
You're missing the point. I said if we're forced to go overseas because we can't compete with top MAC schools for players, THEN it's a problem.
If we are getting better players than other MAC schools, then I'm happy. I assume we had to out-compete some schools to get our foreign players. If not, then other schools better get with the program since there are some great foreign players who want to play college ball in the U.S. It really seems to me that you're looking for a negative where there is none. If we got players from out of state would you fret that we might not be able to compete for Ohio talent?
Coach Cullop isn't a screamer (at least not at games), but I do think she's demanding. If she recruits a high school kid with a ton of talent who doesn't want to think defense-first, that player is going to sit on the bench. So Cullop has to look for skilled players who also have the ability and desire to play great defense. If she has to cross the pond to find those players, so be it. Shafir and Zanoguera have been two players who are incredibly fun to watch. I wouldn't mind some more of that.

RE: New WBB recruit
Remember a lot of top level high school athletes become stars as freshman and sophmores and never see any (or constant) competition until they start college. Most are not used to working, fighting, or waiting for playing time. They are no longer the "shark" in the little fish pond. They are now just another shark in a lake of sharks........

#10 Herrington is going to Central as well. Sorry, I can't give a link because I don't remember where I read it.

Maybe the recruits think Sue Guevara is still head coach at UM rather the CMU?
