I would say for sure. Seven bowls, one BSC, and the number one draft pick. Hard to top, that's for sure. That being said, 2003 wasn't too shabby either.

This will never happen but just for argument's sake. If the MAC went to 16 and brought in UConn, Cincy and USF...would they become stronger than the AAC?

EAST
Akron
Bowling Green
Buffalo
Kent State
UMass
*Cincy
*UConn
*USF

WEST
Toledo
Miami
Ohio
Ball St
CMU
EMU
NIU
WMU

BGSU or Cincy would be in the West with Ohio staying in the East.

I kept those 3 together under the assumption that the'd want to be in the same division and the east made more sense than the west.

LOL, this will bring the UC and ex-CUSA fans out of the woodwork.
Swap Temple for USF and you have a great conference. Not because USF isnt a good program, just because Temple fits geographically and would make basketball better. They also have some love-to-hate history with the MAC teams. If EMU ever left for some reason, throw in Marshall then we are really talking.

Conferences run in cycles. The MAC from 1999-2004 was in a strong period. The league was dominated by Miami, Marshall and Toledo in those years with BG and NIU having strong performances.

2005 to 2008 was a downswing for the conference with Akron and Buffalo somehow walking away with MAC Championships. The MAC only placed 3 schools in bowl games in 2007.

2009-2012 have once again been an upswing with Ohio, NIU and Toledo leading the way. The MAC had a 4-1 bowl record in 2011 and then turned around to place 4 teams in the Top 25 during the 2012 season.

I had thought it made sense for UMass, UConn, UC and Temple to form an eastern FB only wing of the MAC while placing other sports in the Big East.

At least its a question worth asking for UConn is would they be better off putting FB in the MAC East where it could be dominant over struggling along in the AAC? They wouldn't win the MAC every year but would win at least 9 or 10 games.

would also add 4 teams ranked in top 25 at some point in season, 5 wins over top 25 opponents, and 8 wins vs AQ opponents.
