Divisions would certainly make a lot of sense for a league as spread out as this one is and would save money on the travel budgets.

The BE at 16 (and currently at 15) only had divisions in soccer, and those were not even geographical. Also, you would need full participation at 12 to really consider divisions, otherwise it doesn't matter. The only sports that the C7 currently all compete in are m-w basketball, m-w soccer, w cross country, w tennis and w indoor-outdoor track. Of these, cross country, tennis and track need only meet once each season for a conference championship, so divisions are not necessary (and according to their website, track is not one of Creighton's sponsored sports, so the BE won't get to 12 without an affiliate). Soccer is a possibility if the conference wants to play fewer than 11 conference matches, otherwise why bother. M basketball conferences have gone away from the division setup (see Big XII, SEC), and TV might want MU-GU twice in a season at some point. No idea about divisions in w basketball, but I don't see them being treated differently than the men here.

So if divisions will only impact 1-2 sports at most, why waste time on them as a consideration? Now, balancing East Coast and Midwest schools is a different issue than divisions, if that is even an issue.

And I don't think it is. The only legit east coast city being considered is Richmond, and that is more of a southern city than a north eastern city like the OG5. So it's not like they would be adding a city like Boston, Baltimore or Pittsburgh.

Also even if they wanted a geographic balance or divisions they would need one more mid-western school and SLU is a perfect fit there as well.
