Steven Bench leaving Penn State
Former Rice signee QB Steven Bench has decided to leave Penn State, where he was in the running to be in the top 2.

Did he ever sign with Rice, or was he just a verbal commit? Was he even that?

If memory serves, he talked big but then switched without signing. Could be wrong.

Bench verballed to Rice but then switched to Penn State at the 11th hour when they offered. I do not think that he will transfer to Rice given that he wants to play immediately and we have two QBs that would have something to say about that, three or four if Billups and Stehling take off.

I heard that Greenspan made some Sandusky joke to Bench, so that now Bench can get an NCAA waiver to play immediately?

No?

Too soon....?

Still entertaining that the #2 QB has a last name of 'Bench'

I read some of his Twitter. No one is more impressed with Steven Bench than Steven Bench!!! Not sure if he would be a good fit at Rice.....

Sounds a lot like the second coming of Fanuzzi.

RE: Steven Bench leaving Penn State
When he was a verbal commit to us, he did a lot of talking to our players about how good they were all going to be when they all played together and then he backed out of his verbal. That didn't sit well with our players and they wouldn't want him on our team. Bench burned his bridge with us.

It sees that a starting spot will have to earned wherever he goes instead of being given to him.
