ODU fans, you think there is any chance with Bryant Stith on staff now that you can steal Brandan Stith away from ECU?

Anyone heard anything about that possibility?

As far as I know Stith has not been officially added as an assistant coach yet.

Ah I was told he was. That person must have been misinformed.

Last I saw on Twitter from yesterday he has not been offered the position yet. Sounded like he wanted the position though.

Rumor was that there was a holdup on the paper work for some reason. I have no idea, but I do know that he interviewed on campus last week and that he has publicly stated he wants the job, so there might be some credence to the rumor. I'm not sure what the holdup could be, though.

I don't know if we could "steal" him away from ECU (aren't we fresh out of scholarships?). Perhaps we could "steal" the other stith brother from going to UVA though. he's a rising SR.

We've got 12 players on scholarship currently (so we have 1 more left). But, we did bring in 6 freshman last year, and I'm excited about their potential.

Stith will be on the staff, bank on it. The only thing I've even remotely heard is that the son who has verballed to UVA would be the one who might maybe possibly, not beyond the realm of possibility change to ODU.

Bryant Stith has clearly stated that he does not want to coach his sons in college. He also said that sending B.J. to Oak Hill is to get him ready to play at UVa.

Stith has not said that he doesn't want to coach his kids in college. He said that he doesn't want his kids to feel pressured to play for him, that he doesn't want to say "I want to coach you" and make them feel obligated out of love & loyalty for their father.

It is understandable how this misconception got started because of how he worded part of what he said, but if we take the whole of Stith's comments it is crystal clear what he meant. The end result is probably the same because he isn't going to recruit his boys so no one will be selling them on the school, but if they came to him and said, "We want to play for you at ODU," he would hand them an LOI immediately.

obviously his experiences with Jeff Jones were very positive so I would think he wouldn't be against his kids playing for Jeff.

The ECU son transfers, sits out this upcoming year, and is available to play when his younger brother gets here. All speculation I have heard from a source on campus.

He doesn't have to sit out unless he plays this year.

If Jones and Stith sons all come to, I guarantee they will be counted as walk-ons and ODU will help fund them somehow so that they don't count towards basketball scholarships.
