Interesting item in the beginning of the contract where it states that if the school changes conferences an extra year is added to the contract. Anyone have any idea if this is a standard contract type clause or not?

RE: Brady signs 4 year extension
The way I see it, he has about a 75% chance of this being a 5 year deal. We will be changing conferences and the only way I see us remaining in the CAA for the OS is if we go to the SB conference.

The other thing that could be a tough one, is the clause of winning the CAA or getting an at large bid to the NCAA. Though, this doesn't mean that he'd be fired, just that JMU could, if we elected to excercise this option.

Good question. Where there is smoke, there is fire?

I don't think Brady is the kind of person who would do anything such as that, but I think it's good policy to just not have those kind of incentives in our coaches contracts.

Failure to meet apr guidelines should be grounds for dismissal if necessary, but that's all it should do. And we do have that clause also in the contract.

I don't have strong feelings one way or the other about bonuses for meeting APR goals, but I certainly don't object to them. They do serve the purpose of reminding Brady that academics are important, and fudging the student's record (academic fraud) is darn near impossible at JMU because there are too many controls/checks and people involved in the process.

Looking at the details, Coach Brady has a $10,000 discretionary fund to cultivate relationships with donors.
How many beers can you get for $10,000?

Around 2,000 - 2,500 by my estimation. That's a lotta sauce.

RE: Brady signs 4 year extension
It is definitely an interesting clause, but it makes sense because Brady could potentially lose out on an NCAA bid as a result of a conference change. Unfortunately, it is not entirely clear whether the contract would be extended in the event of a CAA merger with another conference, which I see as a realistic realignment scenario. I can definitely see us merging with the America East or SoCon if we continue to see defections. I assume it comes down to which legal entity acquires the other.

Well I bet Matt Brady is now the biggest fan for JMU moving conferences!

I don't know but let's find out!

You can still get natty drafts at Daves Taverna for $0.75. By my math, that's 13,333.33 beers.

I'm personally not a natty kind of guy, but I'd man up to drink a few ice cold nattys on the tarista with Matt Brady.

$2 Natty pitchers used to be wonderful & awful all at once. Still remember a birthday drinking session that ended there with me saying, "Well, I'm done", followed by my roommate slapping down a cold $5 and asking for two more pitchers for me.

$1 Pitchers and 10 cent wings at JM's on Monday nights remains the best ever.

For $5, you could drink 3 pitchers, eat 20 wings, and leave a 25% tip!

If that had existed when I was living in Wampler, every Tuesday would have been horrible.

Where did you learn math? The bartender probably didn't like you very much if you left $5 for that order. I think you mean 2 pitchers and 20 wings or 3 pitchers and 10 wings. Then you could leave a 25% tip. But, I hear you. Those were good times.

Divide by 0... cannot compute. Even with two pitchers... that is insane.

Don't forget dime drafts on Thursdays! Those were the days. The only thing cheaper than the women were the brews!
