RE: Twitter
Funny that people are so anti twitter. As has been mentioned, it's the best way to get news. You don't have to tweet and you control who you follow and who follows you.

Here's all I have to say about Twitter: Last Monday I was on a plane to Philly and on Twitter. I knew about the Boston Marathon bombings before any national news media reported it. At 37k feet.

I read sometimes, never post. I don't like twitter, but it is a good way to keep up with what's going on.

Yes. A lot. Some say I spam my followers' timelines....I am in that boat but won't change because I am interesting...actually I'm not and I wouldn't follow myself if I had the option.

I really enjoyed your tweets last week about the Boston situation! Don't stop, ever, please! lol

RE: Twitter
Twitter is a great way to get information - usually before any other source (which may or may not be reliable). It's also a great way to directly communicate with someone you would normally not be able to.

I found it useful in getting my air conditioner and car serviced faster because I posted about them on twitter. I'm not saying it's the be-all end-all, but it is useful.

Ha. Thanks, B. I got into class on Friday morning and some of my students who follow me were annoyed that I had spammed their timeline. I told them they were free to unfollow me at any moment but they think that if they follow me I will give them a higher grade.

Do you mean twitter is quicker but may not be as reliable? Or that the "other source" may not be reliable?
