I'm not an expert on this at all. But TROY gets some money from the State but we have student fees in our system too. Private donors. When you have 29,000 students in the TROY system and several campuses I'm
Sure they are able to get money out of them.

RE: Spring game attendance
All of the universities in Alabama receive some type of funding from the state. They just aren't part of the same system like North Carolina or Georgia.

The reason Troy dropped the "State" part of its name is two-fold if I'm not mistaken. The first was to eliminate the perception that Troy is a completely state-funded institution. In actuality, approximately 20% of Troy's budget comes from the state of Alabama if I'm not mistaken. The other 80% comes from private donorship and other places. So this was to help with the raising of funds because the board felt Troy University sounded more like a private university which would spur people to donate more. (Please keep in mind this is what I heard from another source at the time of the name change.)

The other part is that they didn't want to be labled geographically by the word "state" since we have campus' all over the world.

UAb is stuck having Momma Bama control every bit of thier lives, it's sad and funny all at the same time.03-drunk

Listen Momma or Boss Hogg up in Tuscaloosa will shape up soon since the UAB spring attendance topped 90,500.........that is how they count at UAB.....the exact quote from "DRAGONFIRE FOOTBALL" was as follows.
.......Immediate release......Todays rousing spring game attracted thousands and seem to be enjoyed by all.....Offense was literally everywhere......Final Stats showed that the offense resulted in 36 and the defense resulted in 6 turnovers..........

Actual was changed as follows.....Todays rousing spring game attracted thousands (of flies) and seemed to be enjoyed by all (whom were not arrested) Offenses that were everywhere resulted in 36 (years of convictions) and the defense resulted in 6 turnovers (we call them aquittals) Actual human attendance was hard to interpret could have been more but there were two vagrants, 3 hookers, 5 drunk students and the coaches mom who said it was a great day. One of the drunks woke up and said he counted 90,500....flies
