Don't leave us on the wrong side of history.

Respectfully, fill us in on what USF did with its opportunities once it moved up from CUSA to the Big East. Maybe I've missed something huge, but I know what Louisville did. I see what Cincy did as well. But what has USF accomplished?

1) Averaged 50K in attendance numerous times, with several over 60K. I'm having a very difficult time believing this. You had "several" seasons of over 60,000? No chance.

2) Defeated Notre Dame, Florida State, Miami, Clemson, Auburn, UNC, NC St, WVU many times, and Kansas (while in top 10 under Mangino) Truth be told, nobody gives a crap about this anymore. Several of those schools aren't marquee programs and pretty much all of the rest were having down years when you beat them.

5) Had a top 25 recruiting class in 2009 by all the services I imagine there are quite a few other schools that have had one top 25 class in the last 5 years. What did that class bring to USF? Why weren't you able to acquire any additional top 25 classes? The answers probably aren't good things.

7) Was ranked in top 10 in 2 years, and in top 25 during parts of 3 others. Where did you finish?

8) Unfortunately did not realize potential by winning BE. If we had kept early season momentum and won BE, we wouldn't be in this predicament. USF was on course to play for national championship at #2 in 2007 before faltering. It's just too bad this momentum could not be built on. This pretty much explains it all. You guys squandered every opportunity in football and aren't all that good in basketball.

I think some of you all forgot just how good a projectory USF was on before Holtz screwed things up last year. Let's be real. It was a lower trajectory than WVU, UL and UC. Probably on par with Rutgers, honestly. Even UConn beat you to a BCS bowl despite joining FBS/Big East after you.

Honestly, there's some good coming out of being left behind. Now you're in a conference where you're more likely to compete for conference titles. If you can consistently do that then you may get a call-up. Because you clearly weren't getting called up being a mediocre Big East program.

FYI. I never said USF averaged 60K. I said they have had many crowds over 60K. They have averaged 50K several times, with a high of 53K averaged over a year.

Pittsburgh played in and lost one, as did Syracuse.

Cincinnati lost 2 (IIRC)

USF, Rutgers and Temple never made it to a BCS bowl at all (last chance boys, but you gotta get past Louisville!).

* Va Tech has since won a BCS bowl - beating Cincinnati!

Should we be talking about this... the ACC has a worse BCS record than the Big East.

I know UM doesn't view USF as a true rival. Maybe a secondary one though. It's too bad the series couldn't be extended. Expect a tough fight from Taggart and crew at RJS this year....

Secondary, yes, but along with that comes FAU and FIU, and that's not company I'd be too keen on haha. I agree - I have never understood why it isn't a bigger game. It's not like you ARE either FAU or FIU... I don't think the BOTH is even going to the game in Tampa this upcoming year. That's somewhat disappointing to me. But, TBH, you guys really didn't bring all that many fans to Miami this last season, so I guess it's a one-way street. Wish it was bigger, but that's life. And yes - with Holtz USF was on the right track. Coulda been ACC florida school #3 if he hadn't ditched. I expect it'll get back that way with Taggart. He's a top-notch coach, very, very underrated.

It's your wording that was the issue then. It's not common to give a one-game "average". You typically reserve the average for the full schedule. Oh well.

Not in the modern era, but we played in the first Sugar Bowl.

If ND decides to join the ACC as an all sports member, the 16th school would be whoever ND wants to tag along.

There's not much too it. Sorry you don't like your conference, but with the stability now in place, USF and the rest of the AAC can build something together.

Even then, you've got to watch out for UCF passing you.

I actually think USF and UCF are probably a package deal. With a top 5 combined market, they are probably more valuable together than apart.

oh, well...I know USF isn't going to get in any time soon....just venting about this ridiculous situation that makes identical schools either a king or pauper depending on which sde of a divide you are on, based on some random criteria that know one knows at the complete whim of some college football big wigs/power brokers.

03-lmfao That's rich right there. You can't tell the difference between FSU/UF and USF/UCF? When did USF start their football program again? You're a commuter school / johnny come lately that doesn't even have your own stadium. Deal with it.

...a Johnny come lately that has passed ECU and built a better program.
