and the other people of Watertown, MA. All residents are restricted to their homes. All schools and businesses shut down. The younger brother of the two Marathon bombers is armed with explosives and believed to be in the general vicinity of my daughter's neighborhood. She just posted pictures of one of the bomb vehicles and all dumpsters being checked right in front of her apartment, by guys in camouflage uniforms with weapons drawn.

Pray for a peaceful resolution of this nightmare.

Tough? Strong? It's called justice. I guess we should hope we catch him alive so he can play on the new soccer field at Gitmo.

Talked about that (being trapped in ur house with madmen running around) with my students today. Total nightmare some are worried like after 911 that this is going to keep getting closer to home.

Not sure there is a way to deter this behavior. If we shoot them they believe they'll be in heaven with a 100 virgins, and if we lock them up at Gitmo it's a better standard of living than they'll find in 90% of their countries of origin.

Have been listening to the Boston area police scanner on the 'net. I can't believe how many times I've heard Jen's street in Watertown mentioned. It just got worse. There was a call for backups at 133 Hillside. My daughter lives at 114 Hillside. OMG.

6 p.m. - They just got the all clear, and the police and National Guard have moved on to other parts of W'town. Whew.

Per CNN ...

Police believe that the guy may still be in the general area, but confident that he's not within the 20 block area (where Jen is) where the National Guard was doing the door-to-door searches. Residents have been given the OK to leave their homes, but to keep vigilant, and to expect a large police and military presence until at least Monday.

The three current worries are the explosives the guy may have, that he may hijack other vehicles, or that he may take hostages. He posted online today that he will kill again to avenge his brother's death.

It's over. He's in custody and was taken to an area hospital in a police cruiser. He will stand trial and pay for his crime.
