On my way to Massachussets From VA today...
And left my sig250 at home. There's a terrorist on the loose and I'm more afraid of encountering police along the way. The carry laws are so damn confusing in Maryland, New Jersey New York and massachussets that I just gave up and would rather not risk it. Luckily, they say they have him cornered but I've never wanted to travel armed as much as i do today. It's really sad and frightening. And for those of you who wonder why I didn't research sooner, I wasn't initially going to take it, but after waking up this morning and realizing what was going on up there, I frantically attempted to look up the laws in these asinine states and gave up because of my time constraint.

It's amazing how much you get away with.

When cops are tense it's probably not a good idea to be armed. No matter what happens, you won't win.

Shame about your time restraints....government has an app for that.....
you will have plenty of time to research those laws using the prison library.

As long as the weapon isn't concealed, unless you have a conceal carry permit, and you keep your permit with you, there should be no problem with the police. Other people I can't speak for...

In NY? Wasn't there some guy locked up when the cops asked if he had a gun, he said yes stowed in my trunk, ammo locked in a box in the other corner and here's the registration?

Maybe I'm making that up, or otherr details I've forgotten (it may have NYC for instance) but I wouldn't take the chance. Especially not at this time, this week...

I've seen a man get arrested for having a car wreck while having a heart attack too. The cop thought he was drunk, and the city had to publicly apologize - and pay his family a considerable sum - when he nearly died on the way to jail. Just because you're following the law doesn't preclude stupidity among the police force from incarcerating you when you've done nothing. There are police officers who really don't care if they've solved a crime, as long as they can eliminate some of the paperwork on their desk and close a case...

Yea, but I'm not even talking about stupid cops, I've had my experiences there as well. Cuomo just rammed througha bunch of anti-gun, we gotta do something laws. And with the cross border laws regarding bringing a firearm in to NY, I think it can still cause you more than a little inconvenience.

Admittedly I don't know the laws ins and outs, but I know they are pretty restrictive about guns coming in from elsewhere. I'd certainly make damn sure about the law first also.
