Pat Summerall, broadcasting and football legend
He'll be missed. I felt he was one of the best. Always proud of his recovery from the bottle too.
Died today in Dallas age 82.

First thing that came to mind is his quote about how he never intended to quit, he was having too good of a time.

Iconic indeed.

Who was his earlier TV partner who played too and I believe preceeded Summerall in passing (away)? Tom Brookshire?

Pat was pretty much the voice of the NFL for a time, wasn't he?

Without question he was my favorite. From the days when he and Tom did the NFL Replay - Steve Sabol deal, slow motion replays with him narrating to that music just made us ALL huge fans and made the game larger than life.
