The IRA angle is starting to look very interesting. This worries me that reprisal violence could flare up during next year's St. Patrick's Day. Obviously we don't know anything yet, but the IRA seems likely at the moment.

The IRA gets a lot of its funding from America. It's hard to believe they'd attack in a hot bed of Irish like Boston. I'm not saying its out of the realm, just odd.

If this was the product of the IRA, we're in trouble. Those guys are the kings of sunny day bomb explosions. We'll see many more of these type of situations if it's the Irish Republican Army. Their M.O. is ruining nice days for civilians, in places where they feel safe. You can cripple an entire population with some well-placed explosions.

The IRA hitting Boston doesn't make a bunch of sense, as Boston has a pretty big Irish population. It'd be like them bombing themselves.

It was more of an international event, people come from all around to run in the marathon and spectate in the event. It's also a highly visible event from a publicity standpoint. A good bit of people were watching.

But you are correct...it doesn't make much sense that they would bomb their own. I think the starting point for the Supreme Court Case was Boston College having to turnover some tapes or something like that...could also be a reason. I wouldn't want to be someone who has to investigate these types of events...so many variables...would make my brain melt.

The IRA makes very little sense.

Boston has been way too good to the IRA to imagine that to happen.
However all the IRA is not the same, and they have bombed a lot
of innocent people you never would have imagined they would.

The Associated Press is reporting that the explosives were in pressure cookers inside duffel bags.
