In a situation like that, as Walt would say, Shane HAS to put the ball in play.

Kubitza gets behind the leadoff batter for UCF but comes back to get the K. Nice job, Austin. Need your best stuff now. UCF's got their Friday night ace pitching tomorrow. Gotta win this one.

And Kubitza follows the K with a BB. Enrique Cruz calls for the DP, and Austin nearly delivers. Grounder, then throw a hair late back to 1B. 2 down. Knight on 1B.

Called strike 3! K number 4 for Kubitza (to go with 4 BB). On to B3. Let's go, bats!

KO to end the inning. Nice job by AK

Anyone have AK's pitch count?

A couple of nice plays by the Knights to get Stringer (hard-hit grounder to SS) and Ratterree (liner to LF). 2 down for Aquino.

EDIT: Excellent! And Michael gets the Owls first hit of the day. 2-out single. Let's rally, Rice! Come on, Geoff!

Who singles for our first hit.

And Perrott, not to be outdone, adds another.

Cook grounds out to end the inning. 2 more LOB.

Boom! Another 2-out single! Perrott and Aquino on base. 2 more Owl baserunners. Third time's a charm?

EDIT: Uh, no. First pitch grounder for Cook. 6 LOB through 3. 2-0 UCF going T4.

Nope. Ground out ends it.
We need runs.

Kubitza strikes out Matos--the kid who had the big double two innings ago. That's K number 5 for Austin. Keep dealing! 1 down, T4.

EDIT: Ugh, then Kubitza keeps even with the K's by walking his fifth.

Byrd snares a drive to CF that has Enrique Cruz stoked in the booth. 2 down. Then Kubitza pulls a Greinke on Williams. HBP. Knights on 1B and 2B. And another HBP. Bases loaded.

On to B4. Time to shell this soft-tosser. Ewing, Stainback, Hoelscher due up. I'm predicting a bottom-of-the-order big inning!
