Bubas Cup
Since 2001 the Bubas Cup has been won by WKU or Middle Tennessee and North Texas has consistently finished in the top three. Last year Arkansas State leaped UNT to finish 3rd for the award.
With WKU, Middle Tennessee and North Texas leaving, what Belt teams will be actual contenders for the cup ? IMHO Arkansas State, USA and Texas State will emerge as the top three contenders each year.

RE: Bubas Cup
stAte has always been hurt by having fewer sports that count so we don't get to rack up points. We have been in the top 3 in FB for the last 10 years, we've won the western division in MBB 2 of the last 3 and our WBB is not terrible. If we could get some points for women's bowling that would be nice. The sports we have are almost always competitive.

Don't be fooled by this troll. His interest is not genuine, his real point is that CUSA took our top Bubba's participants. That's what he wants you to remember. Save your "honest! I just wanted to know!" spill. If you were even remotely serious you'd be the little boy who cried wolf. I see right through your attempt at honest curiosity.
The unfortunate thing is we did lose our top two athletics programs, whether we care to admit that or not, it's a tough blow.

Commissioner's Cups are a little pointless when you have schools that don't field every sport.

As usual you are making the wrong assumption. WkU and MT have been the big dogs in the Cup race since 2001. You can stick your head in the sand and , but someone will take their place; the realistic question is who. My picks were listed, what are yours ?

I saw some posts on the UNT board about CUSA and the UNT posters didn't want "more Sun Belt adds". Seriously?! Change the patch on the sleeve and now we are beneath them?

Most of the conference sponsors relatively close to the same number of sports, I think by conference bylaws you have to sponsor at least 16 and the conference only sponsors 20 total, so you might be talking a four sport advantage and WKU was the only member who sponsored all 20, so unless one of the new members sponsors all 20, you won't have that problem and even then the number of points you can earn in a sport is determined by the number of schools that sponsor it. WKU had a two sport advantage on us(swim and dive) but very few schools sponsored those so they were only worth like 4 points each, compared to say basketball sponsored by everyone being worth 12 or 13(however many members there are in a given season)

I don't want ANY adds. 14 is enough. What has that got to do with who will emerge as the Bubas Cup leaders ?

Have no idea about the standings, but I'd venture a guess that that's what kept South out of the top 3 during some of our better years in the past decade - that we only just added softball in '08, and football in '09.

I'm seeing a lot of that. MTSU is by far the worst. UNT is 2nd.

It's not about being "beneath us" it's about changing conferences actually being a change. I don't think you'll find many MT fans saying Arkansas State or Louisiana aren't good enough to join us in CUSA, simply put it's just a matter of wanting to move forward and you don't accomplish that by continuing to add schools from the conference you just left. If there was a pressing need to add schools, like if CUSA had four defections, I expect things would be different, but as it stands with 14 all sports members, the incentive to add more schools, whether from the Sun Belt or not, is not really there.

If there isn't an incentive to add us and others then what was the incentive to add anyone from the SBC? How is it "moving forward" to play with ODU, UNCC, UTSA and UAB but not with stAte and UL? It does give UNT a better chance to win some games I suppose.

Exactly. Especially when the points are doled out unevenly as a result.
And don't get me started on indoor/outdoor/mens/womens track and field.

And you're now seeing, it's not a 'move forward'....it's just moving. You are joining your former SBC foes as well as the CUSA foes that no one wanted.
Yet the attitude I've picked up from most MTSU fans is that they have moved 'up', and it would make yall sick if stAte or the others joined us at their esteemed 'higher' level.

As well as giving MTSU a good shot at winning against the newbies.
