This whole thing is way overblown (and much of what I will say has been said many times over, just individually):
1. The triple option is not some unstoppable force. With equal athletes and sound scheme it can be slowed and even contained.
2. Georgia Southern is a very good FCS team that will make a relatively smooth transition to FBS. It helps that they come to the Sun Belt, where the eastern conference will have other recent FBS teams.
3. They will still struggle against existing FBS teams (and no, I won't count Texas State amongst this group), provided those teams play a sound scheme.
4. Games involving FBS/FCS teams are irrelevant. The FBS teams are using those games as tune up games, and while they may "scheme" for it, it's not for the FCS team, it's for the FBS team they face at a later date that runs a similar offense. The offense the FCS team faces is a scaled down playbook running vanilla plays. Think of it as the preseason in the NFL. They are trying out some things, but keeping it really simple.
In the end, I'm glad Georgia Southern (and App State for that matter) are in the Sun Belt. They have a passionate fan base and bring quality football (Maybe other sports too, I got no clue, nor a desire to know). As with all fan bases, they have a few who believe they will overtake every team they face, but all in all, it's really just pride.
To the "blowhard" Georgia Southern fans: I ask you tone it down. You're not going to convince anyone that you are world beaters. So all the blustering just serves to irritate folks and you don't come off as passionate, but rather as trolls.
Sorry to come in so late to this, but i have something to say...
Georgia Southern fans... your argument is that you're really good because you've never beaten an FBS team before? I' not sure you understand the concept of an argument...
I mean you can argue that people haven't beaten the teams that you've played that many times, but you haven't beaten any of those teams. Ever.
The stupidity of these people making these arguments is just ridiculous.

No one has ever said were good because we've never beaten a FBS team You made that up. And I agree it makes no sense and is stupid.
Some of the SBC teams on here say we aren't any good because we don't have an FBS win and they have hundreds of them. However, we only play ranked BCS teams that they have never beaten as well. FSU, UF, UGA, #3 Bama etc.

Actually, the slogan was just "No Equal" The full quote was "We Stand Atop the Mountain with No Equal"
Not many App fans liked the slogan, and nobody seemed happy when they continued it after the first year. You're completely right though. This is the ONLY arrogant athletic slogan I've ever seen. Usually athletic slogans are designed for humility and they are intended to downplay the success or strengths of a program. Maybe GaSo is just jealous that you didn't think of it first. Maybe it could have been "We Stand in the middle of Beautiful Eagle Creek With No Equal"
Seriously, GaSo has some arrogant fans. That hardly distinguishes them from App or any other successful program. I'm really excited about joining the Sun Belt and I'm glad that the Eagles are making the jump with us. The higher level of competition will be good for both programs and I think both with step up and compete. Sure...there will be bumps along the way, but that's what makes the ride interesting.
Here is to old rivalries continued and new ones to be created!

Well, with all the vendors out there, I don't doubt that version exists. I was just pointing out the official verbiage. I think we have finally moved past that slogan...something for which I am grateful. I just have to give my GSU buds a little hard time and I saw an opportunity here. My brother actually lives in Folkston and hires interns out of the GaSo Environmental Science dept (or something like that) occasionally. Every time I go down there, I abuse him about having a picture of himself with the GaSo Eagle mascot.
I'm enjoying the back-and-forth on this board. It has a better feel than we had on our individual boards. Good times ahead.
Arrogant is the U££ coach insulting future FCS members knowing those are the only available options for expansion. I have confirmed this will be played over the video board when Huds visits.
i'd be stunned if that happened. that would be one of the littlestdick moves i've ever heard of.
i'm not saying your head coach wouldn't use it as 'tackling-juice' in the locker room before the game. i've coached a ton of young men and it's amazing how easily you can fire them up even with crap you make up.
talk about the trailer park mentality.....'you think you better than me'
Honestly, I have never been around any trailer parks, so I am unaware of the "trailer park mentality". Thanks for sharing you knowledge of it though. I learned something new today.

good for you chauncey.
i've grown up in the commonwealth and flarda so i have been in many. never lived in one but that's besides the point.....i grew up poor as ****....but overcame it.
i had no idea they didn't have them in georgia.
and the 'you think you better than me' is a mantra from those places. quite often YOU ARE BETTER than them but it's usually better to keep that to yourself.
in kentucky a large part of the populace is from scots-irish roots. 'you think you better than' me fuels these folks.
and that's what that move if true SCREAMS to me.
are you folks saying that your administration is going to play a video of an opposing coaches statements that in no way singled your university out?
