JMU Athletic Identity
With the new court design coming to our basketball, major facilities upgrades for almost all other sports, and the "possible" move to FBS in the near future, is it worth coming up with some new sports logos for our Dukes? I know the main royal dog logo is beloved, but our alternate is simply just the head of the dog, it's redundant and frankly it sucks. So does any body have any ideas for a new alternate, or main logo altogether?

The best thing I liked and came away with from the basketball court design contest was the use of the James Madison signature. I think it could/should be incorporated in marketing whenever/wherever possible.

Yeah, I think the James Madison signature with the top of Wilson is a classy look. Staying on the theme of the "duke dog", I like the paw print as well.

The logos are fine. Don't change anything. What court design was selected? Kind of weird to put out a bunch for people to vote on and then not show them what was decided upon.

I wouldn't have a problem with tweaking the secondary logo. Standard JMU logo and JMU with Duke Dog logos are classic. The duke dog head is meh to me.

I have no inside information, but I suspect they're coming up with a new design based on feedback from the contest rather than just selecting the most popular design. Notice how they asked for very specific feedback "what do you like or not like [about each design]?" They'll take the elements people liked and mashup a design, make sure the MAC logo is in the right size/position, and then release it. 02-13-banana

Don't mess with the Duke Dog logo that has JMU underneath it.
That is all.

Ha, that MAC logo would be nice. Yeah, they said up front that they probably were going to tweak any design that was selected. I was just curious because if it's being installed this summer you'd think they would have at least finalized the design by now. Why the secrecy? Oh, sorry for a minute there I forgot I was talking about JMU athletics.
