This does not strike me as a plan that has growing UAB football as its motivation. I'm glad that it is silly season chatboard fodder and not policy.

Screw the Met. Let's win some games early, play exciting football, and put a whole buncha butts in Legion Field. That's what it will take to get the OCS.

RE: Mayor of Hoover Says There's Been "Chatter" of UAB Football at the Met
One of my favorite games when UAB was D-III football was when we played Gallaudet at Lawson, a high school field convenient to my house. Gallaudet is the DC school for deaf kids, I had been there for a summer program a few years before and stayed on the campus and knew a couple of Alabama kids on the team. My beloved Blazers won and Lawson was really close to my house. If we play games at the Met a high school stadium convenient for some folks I hope we can schedule more cool D-III games against folks like Gallaudet and be a real great small college football team....sarcasm alert-sort of. As to using the Met as a bargaining tool for rent at Legion Field...how many land lords provide 30% of the ticket sales to their tenant? Are some people under the misconception that the City is making money off UAB and Legion considering the purchase of 30% of our ticket sales? Bottom line we are in a state with REAL good college football and we have been very bad at football for a long time. If we can get just okay at playing football then attendance rises, income rises and ability to do different things rises. Moving to a high school stadium and alienating 30% of our ticket sales is as I have said...DELUSIONAL to anyone who thinks UAB is and ought to be a major college athletic program.

No one is talking about moving to a high school stadium. This thread is about moving a game to a minor league baseball park.

Hoover has played more than one game there. Not to argue with you, because it being a baseball field is one of the fundamental problems with the idea.

Can the Met really be considered a minor league baseball park anymore?

If I am not mistaken, they expanded their on campus stadium to the capacity required by the AHSAA to host playoff games and get rid of games at the MET.

Could be. I don't know what the current dynamic is, and my daughter's school played them at the school last year, but I knew they'd played some games there, and it may have been their de facto home field for a while. I'm sure if I'm wrong, someone will correct me.

Games are played at Hoover's "OCS" when there are scheduling conflicts with other events at the Hoover Met. Most all of their games are played at the Met, which is considered their primary home field.

And thus the Met is a high school stadium rather than minor league baseball park...unless Memphis Blazer was referring to Regions Field as the minor league stadium...which IS the minor league baseball park.
