Houston Chronicle Article on College Baseball
This article caught my attention, not so much for the story, but rather for the headline:
"UH falls to No. 24 in Baseball America poll, Rice climbs to No. 14"
http://blog.chron.com/cougars/2013/04/uh...-to-no-14/
Wouldn't a better choice have been:
"Rice climbs to No. 14 in Baseball America poll, UH falls to No. 24"?
I know the article was featured on the UH sports blog (hence the spin), but since Rice is doing so well (especially compared to UH), why isn't there similar coverage on the Rice sports blog? Rice is a Houston-area sports team as much as UH.

This has been discussed a lot - unfortunately, a combination of our small size, low following and our AD's propensity to alienate everyone, we get no press coverage at all.
Reminds of seeing a story on local news that said something like "SMU loses on the road" with absolutely no mention of who beat them. (Hint hint, it was us)

Rice has not gotten much local press coverage for decades. Been true since long before Greenspan.

Seems like it has gotten worse. IIRC, MK and then Duarte used to cover Rice more. Now we are lucky if we even get anything just about Rice.
However, I agree that there are other factors in play beyond Greenspan. The Chron's budget issues likely contribute as well.

I am sorry, but this is a real hair split. I think you are reading a whole lot more in the phrasing than is warranted.

RE: Houston Chronicle Article on College Baseball
From the title of this thread, I was half expecting to see a link a Chronicle article essentially saying:
BREAKING NEWS: UNIVERSITIES, INCLUDING SOME IN TEXAS, PLAY BASEBALL TOO
Following by the sub-headline:
For many major leaguers, college was their rookie league
