JMU FOIA request by Liberty fans
I'm a 32 year old female JMU graduate who works for the government. No one had to explain to me the ways around FOIA. If you work in a FOIA'ble place...you damn well better be able to figure that out yourself!!!

Also, if FlamesNation or whatever they are has never completed a FOIA orrrrr more importantly--doesn't work in a place that gets FOIA'd I guarantee you they didn't phrase things correctly to get what they want.

1. I think most here are going off the academic angle and this is why many are against being associated with Liberty.
2. I think Christians are persecuted more in this country than what many realize, for example, it is okay for a professor to ask his students to stomp on the name of Jesus, but not okay to do the same against the Vishnu or Allah.
3. It is okay to pray to Vishnu, Allah, and other gods, but not okay to pray in school to the Christian God. Example of this was at a local school where they were talking about Earth day and how the teacher wanted her students to offer solitude to the the Hindu belief. Turned out that the teacher later agreed that it was a prayer to the Hindu gods (from personal talks with friends who had children who experienced this firsthand).
4. I do not agree with Falwell's theology or how he views the Christian faith.
5. I really do not care if we play Liberty in sports or are associated with them in athletics, to me, it is just another team on the field that JMU needs to beat.
6. As already stated, there are a lot of good people that go to Liberty.

1. Christian's aren't persecuted in this country. It really bothers me when my Christian brothers engage in this conspiracy theory. You want to see persecution, look to 1930 to 1945 Germany for Jewish persecution, and modern day Iraq and Iran for Christian. Those my friend are persecutions. Until federal troops come storming into your church preventing you from worship, you're ok.

2. No federal or Supreme Court case has ever said people cannot pray in class. Silent prayer is permitted and is actually protected under the free exercise clause in classrooms. The cases involving prayer in school actually started when certain Christian denominations sued over school led prayer over intercoms when certain versions of the lord's prayer were used. Believe it or not, Catholics, Baptist and Methodists use different versions. Shocking there.

3. An individual teacher acting stupid is going to happen. But, the system wide, government persecution is not and has not happened, unless you consider the feds going after Mormons in the 1880s and 90s.

So, please stop with the Christian persecution. You can go to church every Sunday, Wednesday...any night or day you choose without fear of being locked up, fined or put to death. Be thankful you live in a country where a crazy ass street preacher on the Commons can tell use all we're going to hell, without him being locked up.

When you left the zone I thought you said that you were trying to get a fresh, clean start on the new boards? 05-nono

I really am trying. I've toned it down. I'll never go back to all-out Bourne bashing but I'm still concerned that it's CAA first, JMU second. The message that President Alger released mentioned disappointment in GMU as a "founding member" as if GMU and JMU owe the CAA till death do them part. What difference does it make if a school is a founding memeber when the school is making significant decisions about its branding, endowment, footprint etc. future?

Do I think we go, yes but until it's done, it's not done

I think that JMU mentioning their disappointment in GMU leaving the CAA is the perfect out for JMU. We stood strong as long as we could and now it is time for our exit due to the actions of others. We are moving. It it is not a matter of if. It is a matter of when and where. We will know within a couple of months and if it doesn't turn out then the frustration, anger and disappointment will be more than warranted.

Villanova is a Christian school and I never complained about them playing football in the CAA. I actually enjoyed playing them since they were a great FCS team...

Catholic schools are more subtle in expressing views for sure. That's my opinion and experience.
