RE: ETSU to Sun Belt?
I like ETSU and very glad they are bringing back football. But this isn't a serious question is it. ETSU was never that good at the 1-AA/FCS level. 25 years in the SoCon, three 7+ win seasons, 1 playoff appearance, and 0 SoCon titles.

Troy says they're a better fit than Jacksonville State.

You do realize that scholarships don't cost the school anything, right??? At ETSU, you are talking about adding 85 students into a crowd of over 15,000. They will never be noticed when added to whatever classes they take.

WOW! I don't even know where to begin in responding to that.

I have a very good friend involved with the athletic department and he and I have been talking about their plan for football for over a year. ETSU will not be even close to being able to fund I-A football. They've been talking with the SoCon for months now. He actually gave me a heads up about GSU's move to SBC several months ago b/c of ETSU's discussion about being one of the replacements for GSU and ASU.

Their new stadium will be a 15k capacity stadium too.

With Appy and GA Southern gone, I think ETSU would be a better fit as an institution in the OVC. Esp. if they could get UTC to jump with them. They could leave the SoCon to mainly become a private run conference like they were from the early 60s to the early 70s.

Agree. Often thought when App & GSU bolted the Small Con UTC & WCU should head to the OVC. They could add Gardner Webb, Presbyterian, Mercer and bring back VMI to form their own little utopia.

I just don't see ETSU funding an FBS quality stadium right off the bat, if that's the assumption then throw in Kennesaw State as well.
