Spring Game Weekend
The Spring game Friday night was very well attended. The overall game production with the children's bouncy set up, the free food, and the weather made it a great event. Plus there were NO INJURIES. A lot of kids saw action for evaluation purposes so most of the starters saw limited action.
The golf tournament was a huge success and I believe raised a lot of money. The price went up this year but the experience was well worth it - everyone received a new pair of golf shoes from Addidas, hat, balls, shirt etc.....
Also Coach Bailiff allowed the upcoming seniors to play and encouraged the rest of the team to show up and mingle with the alums. A very good move on both counts as I saw a lot of the seniors out there both outgoing and incoming seniors, plus many of the rest of the team made an apperance. Again, very well done and very well attended.
The Sunday banquet at the DoubleTree (formerly Rennaisance) was excellent. Good food, efficient production, and well attended. The graduating seniors were in formal wear and the rest of kids were very well groomed and dressed. I know we are very well proud of the kids.
I also want to give a shout out to Ingrid, and the rest of the staff that rarely get recognized for their contribution.
Luke, Vance and Jared did a great job in their short speeches which included a heart felt appreciation to the staff in helping these guys over their years at Rice.
I cannot help but believe very strongly that the Owls are on a roll coming off a winning season and bowl win as it shows in the overall excitement in players, coaches and fans.
