One cool thing about Kinnick is you can walk on the field after the game. It'll be sweeter walking on the field if it was a win however.

Based on the early returns here, it really feels like Huskie fans are as excited about this game as they have been about any road game in a long time, perhaps not since the Michigan game? I wonder if NIU will flood Kinnick with fan support.

By flood you mean have a good showing yes. It will be even better if Iowa fans think that they will lose. That way there will be little pressure on the secondary market and prices shouldn't go that high.

Im waiting to purchase tickets until 3 weeks before the game, the secondary market right now is ridiculous, noone is going to buy at the current prices. Iowa is one of the venues I just cant buy through the NIU allotment, I cannot stand to be in row 10 or less.

As bad as people are saying Iowa is going to be, Ive seen many experts have them as a fringe top 25 team which surprises me.

Does anyone think NIU @ Iowa could be a 230pm ABC regional game? I think this could be the best chance in years for it. Not sure how the ESPN/BIG Ten network priority goes though. If the ESPN family of networks gets it, I hope its on ABC

If that's true than there will not be much depth in college football. iowa didn't bowl last year and they've got holes to fill. They may have the talent to do that but this will be the first game of the season for those players while NIU returns an experienced QB leader, running backs, receivers and Olineman. Iowa also has to break in a new QB and has only 1 experienced RB returning as they lost another rb this offseason

I think most think they are a top 25 team because of the defense they are returning.

No, but we will know shortly. Typically the B1G prime time schedule is put out the last week of April.

IOWA

After six practices, the Hawkeyes' three-man quarterback race between Jake Rudock, Cody Sokol and C.J. Beathard is "about where we expected," head coach Kirk Ferentz said. All three are receiving equal reps, and all are working with the first-, second- and third-team offenses. "At this point, it's a jump ball for all three guys," Ferentz said.
Accountability is a big theme this spring at Iowa after the team endured its worst season (4-8) in more than a decade. Ferentz said he can't bury his head in the sand after a season like last year's. "We have to do a better job in all areas and that starts with me," he said. Linebacker James Morris was candid about the legacy he'd like to leave at Iowa. "The mark we've left so far, if we're being completely honest, isn't a particularly good one," Morris said. "I'm not happy about it, but I'm excited we have one more opportunity to change things."
Ferentz said Sunday's open practice in West Des Moines gives Iowa a chance to say thanks to its fans in the central and western parts of the state. Hawkeyes players enjoy the chance to perform in front of their fans. "It's something to break the monotony of spring ball," Morris said. "This will be something different."
Morris wants to see Iowa's defense translate its red-zone effectiveness -- the Hawkeyes allowed only 15 touchdowns on 48 red-zone chances in 2012 and held opponents scoreless 10 times -- to the rest of the field. Better communication also is a focal point for the defense this spring.

They should bring back Jake Christensen back to start this one. That guy sucked.

And was allegedly a 1st-team All-American Douche.

Rumor out of Iowa is that they are not getting any night games this year.

Unfortunate if true as it seemed like a good prime time spot for our game on BTN.

Why would the Big Ten Network want to showcase in primetime a game that just may involve a Big Ten team getting blown out of the water by the MAC?

It seems that Iowa fans were really hoping for that time slot.

I would guess that gives them more time to drink.

From what I can find, we only know for sure that it wasn't picked up for primetime on ABC/ESPN. I think it still may be picked for primetime on BTN, or at 11 or 2:30 on something like ESPN2/U again.
