RE: Mick Cronin to Rutgers ???
You continue to ignore what I was saying. Entry into the Big Ten gives Rutgers the opportunity to build a respectable program. I never said they would, but there's clearly a number of positives to work with if they hire the right coach. Money and an improved conference profile can help greatly if you put it to proper use. It doesn't matter if you're talking about basketball or football.

Memphis is and always will be a basketball school. They don't invest in football nor do they really care.

Ever heard of making a joke or sarcasm? And yes I was both joking and telling truth at same time...Coopdaddy is a UC fan but his man crush for the Big Ten is nauseating and possibly big enough that if he had to choose between saving the Big Ten or UC he'd sink S.S. Bearcat with a thousand Jim Delaney torpedos.

This thread really has nothing to do with the Big Ten aside from Rutgers being about to walk into a whole bunch more money. The same would apply if they were going to the SEC.

I'm a big fan of posters in chicago. I deeply miss the Depaul season ticket holder. 03-weeping

Oh, and if it makes you feel better, I'm rooting for UL and Syracuse tonight. 04-jawdrop

Rutgers is in the best basketball conference right now. Could a new coach build a program there, sure, but they have never had any significant history.
Are a couple of their best players leaving? They need to find a new AD also.
Minny is a better job.

Isn't it the same school? Why root for their football and not basketball? I don't get it.

I grew up in Hamilton, Ohio. When I was young (and, by the way, I went to Miami University) I always rooted for UC basketball and Ohio State football, as did the majority of kids in Butler County. It isn't as unusual as you might think.

The whole context of this debate is, whether or not Mick is a legitimate candidate for Rutgers RIGHT NOW. And, most of us 03-lmfao at that notion, and especially the arrogant reporter who insinuated as much.

Rutgers might be a good job in ten years, if Hurley (or whoever) wins big. But, there are a lot of storied programs in the league that they need to beat fairly consistently before Rutgers becomes a legitimate basketball job.

If they win three NC's in the next decade, then I will worry about UC's coach leaving for it.

It's just always been the case for me. I've never cared about anything other than UC basketball or Bob Huggins-led programs. As to this year, I'd really like to see UL win a championship, beating Syracuse.

It's really not that uncommon. Hell, there are a lot of UC basketball fans that are also huge OSU football fans.

Ha that does make me feel better. Go Cuse! I miss the Depaul season ticket holder too...maybe they'll turn it around in the next decade or so.

Interesting. I would've thought that would be very unusual. For me its always just been one school. I root for UC in everything from basketball to swimming.
