If you look at the history of our series I wouldn't be to bold in your predictions sir because history isn't in your favor. I will just leave it that my Pirates are more than capable of winning this game and most likely will.

I do not see the last game of season being for all the marbles. Just like past years it may matter as far as going to a bowl. There are to many good teams for ECU and Marshall to play before both get to end of season (not counting injuries, etc.). Both teams had defensive problems last season and the one that can fix that will probably have the best shot. Again, such teams as MTSU, USM, Tulsa, etc. will be ready for both of us:)

Both teams have questions on defense but both return mostly all of it players plus new and injuried additions (example: ECU Dixon, DE).
ECU fired DC and hired a former ECU DB Coach Ricky Smith (35 years of experience) from its two Cusa championship seasons as its new DC while keeping all other coaches in place. Marshall I believe (tell me if I am wrong) replaced (most left on own) all of its coaches except one. Ask USM....coaching can turn you into a 0-12 team in one season. New coach(es), new/returning players, injuries, and other factors will come into play long before the last game of season is played for both teams. Time will tell but (again) I believe one game will have little impact on total season except maybe for a bowl. Win or lose I wish Marshall and its fans nothing but love and respect. Hopefully ECU and Marshall can continue our play as history has connected both schools in the present and past.

Interesting that both Garrard and Leftwich both ended up at Jax Jaguars.

By the way, only time I ever gave up and went to bed at half time when my Herd was playing. I was really frustrated with our first half play. What an idiot I was! Hasn't happened since, I'll tell you!

We were supposed to be at that game but my roommate got strep throat 2 days before we were going to leave. We ended up selling our tickets and giving away our hotel room. We then watched the 1st half and then left for a house party when we got there everyone was crowded around the TV cheering. I asked why would they possibly be cheering this crap and they replied Marshall is about to take the lead.

What got me was how much of a flop Leftwich turned out to be in the Pros.

If Chicago would of drafted him instead of trading down with the JEts and then drafting Rex Grossman and Micheal Haynes, Leftwich career would of been totally different. Leftwich would of flourished in Turner's offense and the oline would of protected him. Instead he ends up in that trainwreck of pro team called the Jaguars and the rest is history.

Yes.....ECU did blow the game but the good news for ECU fans 13 other games were played and ECU has an overall record of 10-4 and a 6-2 record in Cusa play against Marshall. (My information may be wrong so correct me if I am.) This years' game should be a toss up depends on what happening during the other 11 games prior to Nov 23....it is a long season and lots of things (injuries, etc.) will happen prior to that game.

You are spot on. Marshall is 4-10 vs ECU all-time, which goes back to 1967. Yet another example where we as Marshall fans have no room to talk **** until we prove it on the field.

However if you are talking history then look to the past games in Huntington and thats...

'07 W at home.
'09 L by 4 pts at home
'11 W at home.

Our last 2 games have gone to OT and 2 OT.

All of that to me points to a close game which most people think, but as others have said to there will have been a lot of football played prior to that point, so who knows where our teams will be at that point. However, the advantage is in the history as many people seem to enjoy pointing out. History works both ways.

Finally.....thank you for manup and telling the full (true) story to your fellow Marshall brothers. Again, (if I may quote you), "we as Marshall fans no room to talk **** until we prove it on the field". You cannot pick and select a 3 or 4 year period of time that you may think you look good when you have a 70% losing rate throughout history of time.....some of you need to look in mirror because outsiders are laughing at you, "until we prove it on the field".

Sorry r2, but what happened 2 years ago isn't that important and stuff that happened 20, 30 or 45 years ago is really meaningless. What matters most is that we each have about the same teams as last year. We lost a few and added a few, same with ECU. You saw last years game, difference is this year it's in Huntington.

You wouldve easily been an 8 win team last year with one.

With the schedule you have you could be looking at a 10+ win year with a decent defense.

We can also discuss how many TD's Cato is going to put on ECU next year. I think 6 is a good number.

Ouch! Marshall is victim of its own offensive success. Granted, they could probably use some help on defense. Teams with that kind of prolificty on offense has haunted teams like that, Michigan under rich rod, okie state, and Marshall's neighbors in Morgantown.

Banker, I am not one posting a 2001 video. ECU is 2-2 in Huntington with last game being an overtime lost so ECU can and have won in Huntington (FYI: Marshall is 0-4 in Greenville). Again, I think the last game of season will not determine the division championship. There are too many other good teams we both have to play before game 11 and I will not disrespect any as an easy win (For some reason there are fans on both sides that think this is the only game both teams will play). Just like in the past it may determine a bowl game for one of us but I see no championship game. (Opinion)

You are so right, RedP. I wish we would remember that. We actually haven't won ANY conference titles in any sport since we joined, with the exception of one early Women's Volleyball championship (I think I'm right about that.) We need to put up first!
