Sorry if I'm not a Patti Pacifist like yall but a player w/such a nonchalant attitude will never reach his/her potential. Like being a musician but not liking to practice much....

You call everyone on our team out starting with the coach.....some ass on the radio just happen to agree with you. I have never seen you say one good thing about any Tiger, not one.

So, you disagree? You feel that Tarik has played well and lived up to his potential? Although, I'm beginning to wonder if his potential is even what we thought it was. I think sometimes we see somebody his size and just assume that he should play well. Don't take into account the actual skill level or desire.

I disagree with bashing one if ours on the radio....I know it's hard for some of you to understand, just like it's hard for me to understand your side.

you realize this was in reference to the fact that Keith and Gary were saying he was probably transferring and no longer a Tiger, right?

Gary was standing up for Josh, and probably delivering a message for him.

No, I didn't realize that.....but as long as he is a Tiger, he is one of OURS! And as far as I know Black is still a Tiger.

My my my. I wonder what the Patti Pacifists think now.

Twasn't long ago a Mr Joe Jackson also had a parade in his ear telling him he need to do this and do that and not listen to Josh.... one day, Joe decided to ignore them and listen to coach and all was well (funny how that works.... so busy pumping sunshine they cant see whats really happening... oh well).

You're probably correct....not sure who Tariq is, but can he get a few over Tarik?

Best thing is for everyone to listen to the segment.

http://media.espn929.com/a/72699962/gary...seg-2.htm?

I personally didn't feel it was the bash job that's being described in the thread. It felt more like Parrish and Easterwood were defending Josh because of the criticism he receives for Tarik's play. Easterwood's opinion sounded as though there are people around Tarik who are the problem. Parrish on the other hand puts the blame squarely on Tarik.

Exactly. They were just stating the obvious.Truth:Tarik is getting bad advice. In order for people to think he's better than what he is,he has to show it.There ought to be a law against being that physically gifted and it not translate on the court.I like Black but he has to put in work this summer wherever he ends up.They say rebounding is want to and it looks like somebody doesn't want to.Unless he's injured like he was last year as implied other places.

The whole segment started when KE implied Tarik might transfer. GP simply asked where the hell Tarik thinks he is going to go... then proceeded to explain that he doesn't produce on the floor and is a headache off the court, so why would Josh mind if Black did decide to transfer...

No. Easterwood said it on the air today, he's basically a "big body". He doesn't rebound. He doesn't defend. He fouls. And on top of it all...let's remember he darn near quit on the team half way through the season. Parrish was spot on with what he said, like him or not.

Let em walk.

Name ONE Tiger “Big” in the past 4 years that got better.

Niles – quit

Coleman – no

Spoon – used as a garbageman 3-4-5 – no

Hipp – bench splinters

Stan – bench splinters

Black – no

Hall – no

Adonis – at the 4 ? at the 3 – no

DJ – played well as a senior - not really a Big proved by MSU

Shaq – initially played better with Black in – no

You say Tarik hasn’t gotten “NOTICEABLY” better, so show me ONE who did. Fact is he hasn’t and the others haven’t either. Your solution is: ” Let em walk.”

Get off of the emotion notions like the local talking heads sucker us into at the end of each season, and think about the unknown situation we will face.

Because Tarik is the ONLY true Big we have who can post up on this team, that’s why. Run plays and give him the GD ball in position. He leaves and we’ll play small ball all of the time. I guess we need another lesson. MSU apparently wasn’t enough.

Live & Die by the three? I’ve only seen ONE team win the NC like this, and it was long long time ago. Came hot and stayed hot until the end.

RE: Parrish tearing up black on radio
Tarik Black is just the next player in the long rotation of players in the "doghouse" for some fans. These fans aren't satisfied with Pastner's performance and are frustrated that the program is no longer at the level it was when Calipari resigned to take another job. This dissatisfaction manifests itself through criticism of individual players, and this group of fans jumps from player to player as one player's performance improves and another player's performance wanes.

In order, off the top of my head, those players this season have been:

Joe Jackson- some fans wanted him out of the program after Atlantis. Now Joe is CPOY.

Then in quick succession it was:
Adonis Thomas
Tarik Black- After the practice incident.
Chris Crawford- when he was cold from the field.
Geron Johnson- When GJ was cold from the field.
Shaq Goodwin- After Shaq hit what is commonly termed as the "freshman wall".

And now we're back to Tarik again.

This portion of the fanbase is unable to regulate their emotions in regards to these players, or acknowledge that every player on the team has gone through slouches in their career here (Just like every player in the nation). When one players breaks out of his slouch, like Joe and Crawford, there is never congratulations or apologies for bashing, it's on to the next player. "Well, Crawford's playing great but what is Geron doing out there?"

It's classless. It's low rent. It's a disservice to the boys that are devoting their lives to play for Memphis.

I'm sorry, but the player bashing really irks me.

Also, the wider context was how that recent players [I think they were referring to locals] do not have the tough discipline that was once a necessary and useful tool to make them better, stronger players.

Today, they are coddled, spoiled, not required to put out and protected by their posse's.

Used as another example how Crawford would run back down the floor when he was making his 3's. But, when he was off, he would sometimes limp as if it was because of some injury. Only thing was, they pointed out he would forget which leg to limp with sometimes and go from one leg to another after each miss.

That sprang from the discussion about the Rutger's coach and they used that to compare to the babying approach of players around here. One extreme to the other.

Also mentioned being at practice the day Cal stopped everything because Joey was pouting over not getting the ball. Told him they were not ever going to throw him the ball, and if he wanted the ball to go and get it himself. Pointed to that as a turning point in Joey's development

Soft kids equate to quitting, moping, and particularly poor rebounding.

Dude, Tarik Black has shown the same game for 3 years.

The only way things change is if Tarik Black changes them.

He needs to get in shape, work on his shooting, work on his defensive awareness, and be a leader.

I'm not bashing anyone - I'm just saying, a captain doesn't quit on the team multiple times.

Whatever. He's either here next year or he's not.

One thing I will say is GP was spot on on his assessment.
