What Can ETSU Afford?
Everyone has their own ideas as to who should be the next Head Coach. I've heard that whoever it is they should have had to pay their dues! My question is what are we going to pay a GOOD Head Coach and what type of budget will be established for assistants? If I'm not mistaken Hamilton was paid around 175K a year. I would think the good coaches that have paid their dues would command more then 175K per year. Any thoughts?

They would. But since no money has been raised yet and I'm not sure an official announcement has even come forth, then you're waaaaaay ahead of the game.

How do you figure I am ahead of the game? A Head Coach is to be named next month.

RE: What Can ETSU Afford?
I would think it would be in the $200-$300k a year range. Bobby Wilder at ODU was hired at $200k base a year and Brad Lambert at Charlotte was hired at $250k a year. I would think they are both reasonable comps for ETSU.

The pro forma had a head coach salary of either $325K or $350K, much higher than we paid Hamilton

Hmmmm. Are these numbers more in line with an entry level FBS coach? Seems like Dr. Noland may have plans...

It depends on what those numbers include. With other benefits, top level FCS coaches make around that amount.

Thanks that is what I was wanting to know. I had no idea what the total compensation package was for a typical FCS coach. I guess the published numbers are just base salaries.
