RE: South End Zone
This point has probably been made before, but it bears repeating. The NIU Athletic Dept. has NO control over the Convo Center, or areas like the skybox at the football stadium. Through its convoluted bureaucracy, the NIU foundation, the convo center management, and other parts of the university have control. MM couldn't even get the convo unlocked one day this spring so that he could show it to a recruit. And no one in athletics could help move the convo staff. This university needs a reorganization to create an environment where success can be achieved. As it is, various parties within the school are working at odds and wasting time and money to no end.

That is a good reminder. Its amazing how poorly separate divisions who are apart of the same organization communicate. Unfortunately it happens everywhere.

I hope Dr. Brown can put in place the best people to improve this culture.

Ahhhh, NIU.
I think the problem was that the Convo people were there but were busy gathering "scrap" metal at the time.

I'm missing something. MM's office is in the Convo.

Maybe he doesn't have the key to the outside doors...01-wingedeagle

If true it shows the not so great planning of the Convo if the Athletic offices do not have a separate entrance.

You are telling me that MM does not have keys to the Convo Center?
That is like not having keys to your own house. What kind of program is NIU running?

RE: South End Zone
Athletic Dept has their own separate entrance to the Convo. LOTS of people who work there have keys so I'm assuming MM would have one. If he doesn't that's his own stupidity.

Most of this is completely inaccurate!

I feel better now.

Better our head coach is a bit of a goof than our entire athletic and facility organization.

I find the MM incident a figment of ones imagination, however, I do believe that there is and has been a dysfuntional organizational strucutre that has lead to some bad or no decisions on certain initiatives. Thats why the academic business background of the new Preisdent was a very high priority requirement in the search. I am sure these organizational mindfields will be rectified when the new Pres settles in July 1. Having said that, this athletic dept and football program has reached heights I never imagined in terms of success on the field and facilities. Lets not forget that. This other stuff if easily correctable.
