Jamie Dixon lobbies for Wichita State (and VCU) in ACC
Quote:"Wichita has a great history, going back to the days of Xavier McDaniel and Antoine Carr," Dixon said of the Shockers, who will play overall top seed Louisville in national semifinals in Atlanta this coming Saturday. "Plus their recent Sweet 16 and now this run makes them a very notable program and I think the ACC should consider adding them. The league already added Notre Dame and as was shown in the Big East, the football/basketball hybrid can be successful if approached right."

The long time Pitt coached mentioned how impressed he was with them during and after the Shockers 73-55 rout of Pitt in the second round last weekend. Dixon also went on to add that VCU, given its proximity to many of the league's members, would also be a great add given the stability of their coaching situation."

I personally think they're waaaaaaaay too far west but it goes to show what a Final Four run can do.

Either Georgetown or 'Nova or nothin'

I'm OK with adding one basketball only to coutner ND (we would either add a 2nd bball-only if ND ever joins in full, or, if ND wants, just add Navy as a FB-only), but that basketball-only would HAVE to be either 'Nova or Georgetown, pref Georgetown.

Adding VCU or Wichita State is a terrible idea. I would add Richmond, Seton Hall, UCONN basketball, and Prov. basketball before either of those schools.

I disagree about hybrids not working. Balanced hybrids don't work. However, as long as 2/3 or more of the votes in the conference are controlled by football schools, and as long as the basketball schools add quality academics, men's and women's basketball, and olympic sports, then hybrids work really, really well because the conference enjoys the best of both worlds.

The problem is that it is very hard to convince schools with quality academics, basketball programs, and olympic sports to join a conference where they will haev no meaningful say in the administration and long term strategy of the conference.

Well, one post. The other post had nothing directly to do with your post. However, you did get me. 04-bow

SIDE NOTE:
I hate this "holiday" almost as much as I hate the two holidays that involve shameless commercialism. Don't get me wrong. I'm not against corporate America and I have no problem with them taking my money. That's how capitalism works. I just wish that they would drop the thin facade.

I don't see those two going ACC, but then again, I never expected the ACC to be in NY or Boston so who knows?

Me too...I think the F4 threw him off his game.

April Fools joke aside:

The only hybrid I see working for the ACC is:

Notre Dame all in to get to 15 Full Time schools then
Navy FB only and Georgetown or Nova or SJU all sports by FB

Now that Maryland is gone, Georgetown wouldn't be a bad choice to regain some of the crowd lost by the Terps departure. But that all depends on whether or not the folk in Carolina think it's in their best interest. I'm not so sure that's the case...

I'm not sure about the other choices either, with the possible exception of Navy. But I just don't see the ACC going the football only route, since it's basically a basketball conference. I doubt Villanova or St. John's go to the ACC for basketball either. The ACC doesn't really need either school. Tobacco Road calls the shots, not the BEast imports...

But we shall see soon enough, I figure...
