That was a nasty injury...I hope Ware recovers well and is able to continue his playing career after healing (1 year is what they're saying). I'm glad to hear his surgery was successful!no matter what one thinks of a particular team, I never, ever wish for an injury to any player...not even a UK player. They're giving their all trying to play a sport for public entertainment, it truly sucks when something like this happens.

Still, I think it was the 3rd most gruesome injury I've seen in a basketball game behind the Rudy T / Kermit Washington incident and Allen Ray's eyeball.

They didn't rush to his side because medical personnel rushed to his side immediately, along with Coach Pitino. What would his teammates do? Look on in horror, only making his condition worse?

So they drop to their knees and start crying? Seriously? He broke his leg, he didn't die, he wasn't paralyzed. Not trying to start **** here, but their reactions were weird and I can't relate to what they did. Medical personnel or not, I'd have to go over there to assess how bad it was before having any kind of reaction. As for the bolded part, call me crazy, but how does their looking make his condition any worse in any way?

They freakin heard his bones break and the bones came out of his leg. You make it sound like seeing that happen to a buddy would be no big deal. I'm not saying I would break down but I am pretty sure I would get a little weak at the knees.

That's my point, I get they'd be upset, not saying they shouldn't be. NOT SAYING THAT AT ALL. (despite what the Toledo poster wants to think I'm saying). I just don't get how they got so upset that they couldn't do anything but drop to their knees and cry without even knowing for certain what the injury was.

Look at the picture. These are 18-21 year old college basketball players. Outside of putting a band-aid on a cut there is nothing medically they can do, they have no medical or crisis management training. They were within 15 or 20 feet of him, they could hear the bone snap and one quick glance is all it takes to realize someones shin should never be at a 90 degree angle...

This is the most horrific event I have ever seen live. I had just finished eating and all the guys in my family were sitting around watching the game and there were several of us that almost tasted Easter dinner twice. I pray this kid has a full recovery and sees the court again.

If you saw the video or was watching the game you saw what happened. This kid, who is just that a kid, might not play the game he loves again (depending on how bad his leg really is) I know most of us have a severe hatred for Louisville, mine is a birth right but no matter the hatred you never want another player to get injured especially not this bad. I hope and pray he comes back from this and is able to play again even if that is the difference between a W or a L for our Tigers.

We had 14 over for Easter. We had finished our meal, egg hunt and settled down for the guys to watch ball and the girls to do what they do. As soon as it happened and they showed the replay, I let it get past there and paused the feed. Mind you, we are watching on 120" screen. My 12 year old grandson gets the remote and plays it over and over and over while I ran down to get something to drink.

When I returned his Dad was chewing him out. I tried to explain to him that you just don't rubberneck on something like that. I told him about Theisman, and how to this day I won't watch it. I know as soon as I left he probably got on his computer and googled Theisman.

Anyway, great game by the Cards, they are the real deal. I am pulling for them the rest of the way, and have been since we were eliminated.

I hate for any athlete to have an injury ending career.

The guy's bone was sticking out of his leg. What did you expect them to do?

You know what folks, drop it. We can agree to disagree, how they reacted is not how I would react and what they did do is so foreign to me that I can't even relate. Clearly I'm in the minority here, so I'm the douchebag, no amount of parroting each other is going to change that.

Its not worth watching. Just save yourself the agony.

Were you celebrating this one too?

That's kind of a dick thing to say, where are you going with this?

I posted after the Noel injury that that it was a tough break and he was a good kid that would recover and be a lottery pick in a few months.

But I also did the nutkick to Cal because it meant they were screwed now.

Now we have people who don't like me posting this garbage all the time claiming I was "laughing" at the kids injury.

Rob dislikes me so this is acceptable to him. Showing his true colors.

You were laughing about it. I believe you even got banned for some of your comments (which you edited). No sense in pretending it didn't happen.

I do not think anyone is calling you any names. However, you just keep saying you cannot believe how they reacted and that is not how you would react and so on. Therefore, most of the responses toward you have been a simple rebuttal as to why the players probably reacted that way they did. How about instead of whining about our responses you give an actual response explaining how you think they should have reacted, or how you would have reacted. I for one am genuinely interested in what you think they should have done (I am also wondering if you are a doctor, nurse, trainer, first response, or some other crisis response position which would then make a little more sense about your stance). Like say for me the players response makes sense; hear leg snap, see leg snapped, see trainers/doctors rush to his side, stay where you are in shock and give them the room the need to work.

I get that response. If you have a different perspective please share (outside of, I just cannot believe they just sat there and did nothing).

03-lmfao Relax. No one is calling you anything, but you are obviously not shocked by sudden gruesome injuries like most 18 year old kids would be. Nothing about how they reacted was surprising, but maybe if you have some experience with such things you have a different perspective. Pitino said he almost puked and he is an older adult. He didn't drop to his knees, but he shed some tears. It wasn't just a boo-boo.

Wow, now I'm a douchebag and a whiner. I already stated all I'm going to say about this and I already answered your question. You clearly haven't taken the time to read what I wrote and as a result I find it hard to believe you now care about my opinion. Agree to disagree is all you'll get from me on this, looking for further clarification from me serves no purpose. It is what it is, accept it and move on.

My take is the full extent of that injury was readily apparent to anyone within 40 feet. It was more akin to a war injury than anything you ever expect to see on a basketball floor.

We all react differently, according to age, life experience, training, temperament, emotional connection to the injured, et cet. One player went to comfort Kevin, and it was simply too much for the others. They did what their coach told them to do. No one should bear blame for their reaction. It was just a tragic, unexpected accident.

Thanks, y'all, for the post-accident hospital pictures. They make me feel a lot better today, and kudos to those docs! Best wishes for this very strong young man. And I am pulling for the Cards to win it all, as I was before this happened. Pitino helped us get in the B-East, and I would like to see them as National Champions, since they beat us (refs robbed us.)

So lets just save the attacks and judgments for the other threads. There are plenty of them to choose from. Lets just keep this one clean without a bunch of bitter arguing and attacking.

Bollocks. I know it is difficult to view & very gruesome, but it makes you really appreciate what you have.

I even watched the video of the kid in the Middle East who converted to Christianity get his head sawed off with a knife...video was about 20mins long.

Why would you do that? Not judging, just wondering.
